Q: for those who've changed springs. Heard there's a problem...

Got a question about springs for those who've changed to H&R/Eibach/ACS:

I just heard from my BMW dealer that they recieved two cars that had changed springs (stock shocks) and by lowering the car, it screwed up the headlight sensors and the motors that move the headlights popped out.....

Anyone hear of this.......?

Nope, the install may require a headlight adjustment that my dealer didn't mention ( but makes sense ) but never heard of the rest.

I had the ACS springs installed, and my headlights at least need to be adjusted. They do move when I first start the car as usual though.

Can you tell us more about what "popped out" means, and how to investigate (eg. a simple performance test)?

My last BMW, when started, had headlights that moved up and then down when the first turned on. On my F10, after lowering springs, they just move up (when the beam is viewed against my garage wall).

Can anybody tell me if this is the normal behavior, or whether this indicates a lack of full movement (up AND down) upon start-up?

On mine they only moved up. Even after my springs were installed they still only move up. I haven't had any issues with my headlights what so ever. They still light up the street perfectly ahead of me.
