Got my car coded Finally !
Hey guys, finally got my car coded, been meaning to do it for almost a year now, but held back since my car was always in an out of the dealership.
got the following options added: -Disable Seat Belt Chimes (Passenger, Driver, or both) -Disable Seat Belt Warning -Windows up/down & closing/opening of sunroof with key -Folding Mirrors with key -Unlock doors when engine is turned off -Window safety feature (When window is rolling up, you can open the door without it stopping, one touch operation of windows with door open) -Welcome Lights Fog Lights (When you hit unlock, your fog lights come on) -Removal of Amber Headlight Sidemarkers (Euro Look, will only come on when you signal) (Excludes LED Headlamps) -Fog Lamps with High Beams (Fog lights will not shut off when high beams are activated) -Digital Speed Display (Speed will be displayed in numbers center of the cluster, added option does not remove anything, M3 style) -Flashing Brake Lights (Brake Force Display) (Upon hard braking the brake lights will flash) -Enable DVDinMotion (Watch DVDs at any speed for cars with navigation) -Removal of iDrive Disclaimer Message (no more pushing accept when first starting the car) -Add Fuel Stop Proposals (standard on 2011+ cars) (For 2009+ cars only) (I dont see this already on my car) -Inband Ringtone (transfers the ringtone from your phone) (cars built 10/10 and after) -Digital Tire Display (Display temp and PSI of tires) (cars built 10/10 and after) -Add Signals in HUD (car's software must be up to date) -Turn off iDrive/radio when car is off and door is opened Havent had the chance to test them all but will be doing so this weekend. BTW I got my car coded by AlpineMss, remotely, took him a whole 30~ minutes.

yea I like it too, He gave the option of either instant or holding the lock button for 1 second, that way I dont have to do it all the time.

That would be cool! Especially when the windows roll down at the same time the mirrors fold out...that would be SWEET! My wife just thinks I'm full of myself when I close the mirrors Haha! |

Can you explain to me how he coded everything remotely? What did you need to do to make this happen?

There are a couple of ways I know of...one I prefer and the other less-so. The way I prefer is that you get yourself set up to code (laptop with the software, security token, and the OBD-to-Ethernet cable) and then you get in your car within range of Wi-Fi. I connect to your laptop using something like TeamViewer by Wi-Fi, to you by cell phone, and then I show you everything you need to know about connecting to your car and coding your car so that you can do it for yourself forever more. I like this method because it teaches how to code, not just performs a service, and because you have all of the software there with you, if we lose computer-to-computer connection, I can still talk you through any remaining steps. I was taught through this method, and I loved it.
The other method is for the remote computer to set up a connection to your car THROUGH your computer, but the host computer is the only one with the coding software. Essentially your computer is just another link in the chain. Your computer may even have the screen blanked so you cannot see what is going on. I appreciate the value of this method for professional services like Bimmer-Tech, because they are not trying to teach, they are just coding, and they don't have time to mess around with the possibility of you not having set up your computer correctly. From what I know, those are the two ways to do remote coding.

I bought the Ethernet to OBD cable and he gained access to my laptop remotely and did his thing for about 30 minute.

Of course! I can send a PM to you with a suggestion of who to contact to get things started. I think you have to post a few comments before you can be reached by PM.

Hello, I just had my 528i 2012 coded today. Found a local (phx) coder in craigslist, and he drove over and coded in my garage with his laptop. So i would recommend looking for local coders as an option. Loving all the added features that should be standard IMO.
Cheers PS thinking about coding myself some day !! Ive started researching already!! |

I had my car coded tonight, I posted awhile back for coding in Las Vegas but no one does coding here. Out of the blue this evening I get a pm from "OK" the coder from codemycar.com asking me if I still need my coded and that he's in town for sema. I messaged him back my number, he called me within 5 minute and I asked if we could code my car right then? He said "yes" and I met him at his hotel and he coded my car in the parking garage. I basically got everything 550reasons did plus I had the instrument cluster lights changed to white at night instead of Amber, and I also had it coded to remove the light warning if I changed to My reverse and turn signal bulbs to LED's. He codes unlimited options from his list for $140.00 which I thought was a good deal since the dvd in motion (from dvd in motion.com) is more than that by itself. He also does remote coding for the same price you just have to buy the cable, so if your not in an area where there's a coder this could be your only option. I'm kinda lucky because eventually everybody comes to Vegas for something and the codemycar.com coder was thoughtful enough to ask if I still needed coding while he was in town.
