Four Run Flat Tires Needed; Goodyear or Pirelli?
Hi everyone,
All four tires have bubbles and I have insurance for another 9 months. I don’t plan to switch to conventional tires at this time, but may when insurance expires. Goodyear Excellence RunOnFlat tires since new, but figured I should consider Pirelli P Zero Run Flat tires at this time. Those who’ve had both, any pros and cons in relation to each other? One better than the other? Car is going to the dealer today. Thanks! |

I've had excellent experience with continental oem run flats on my car. I'm located in NY and everybody knows how bad the roads are here. No bubbling or anything experienced. I don't have experience with Goodyear or Pirelli but I would suggest checking tirerack.com for reviews. If you have bubbles on all Goodyear, then I would choose to switch over to Pirelli and hope for better experience.

If I may, throw in another option. Michellin primacy. No bubbling despite quite a few potholes being encounted. Seem to be lasting well, 16000 miles and plenty of wear still present. Not cheap thoug ( at least in UK) as I had to replace the rear twice due to punctures (not tyres fault). 400 pounds for a 19inch 275/35. They also last well when flat, I did 400 miles with quite a lot at motorway speeds. I may have been very lucky but they stood up well.

Bridgestone came into the market with a new runflat tires for our cars as well. no experience with them but Bridgestone is a reputable company.
I was thinking of going with a 45 series tires next time i need to replace all 4 tires. |

Tires
In spite of other comments, my 2014 F10 is still running the OEM Goodyear RFT's and at 14K mi, no issues whatsoever. And I live in an extremely pot-holed area Wisconsin.
OTOH, I did replace the Pirelli PZeros on my wife's E90 this past fall with Bridgestone Potenzas. The PZero's were great warm-weather tires (run them on my Boxster S also) but were treacherous in snow. Additionally, the PZeros are noisy, and the howling gets worse as they wear. |

Thanks everyone!
Upon drop off, I asked for the Pirelli’s, but upon consideration of the feedback here, from other boards and a conversation with a tirerack rep - who first said Pirelli’s, but switched to Goodyear’s - I’ve decided to stick with the Goodyear’s. I use the car in the winter and with the Pirelli’s being softer, they're supposedly worse in snow. Such that I’ve been able to make due in snow thus far, I didn’t want to risk change. When my insurance expires, I plan to switch to conventional Michelin’s. Too bad not in a southern state; would’ve gone with the Pirelli’s; look better too. My 2011 550i had Michelin Primacy (not sure of the sizes, but the car was M-Sport, so it was the staggered set). In pot-hole rich New England, I never had a bubble or the slightest other problem with the tires. Give them a look.
