Really, over there the NAV is spot on all the time. Couldn't be more perfect. Must be a US only problem.

Nope. BMW Navigation is terrible in Hong Kong as well. Google and other products on mobile phones are way better. Besides the newer phones have the US GPS as GLONASS support as well, working together which is always more accurate and faster than the BMW Navigation......

Surprised to hear such criticism of the navigation system but I guess it must be connected to the local map data provider for each country or region. Here in the UK I've found it to be excellent, and with the full colour display in the HUD it couldn't be much better.

Interesting. Everywhere I have been in Europe it has been flawless.

The HUD is my highest rated option while the lowest rated option is the Pedestrian Collision System included with Night Vision! It needs to be improved dramatically...

The same goes for the cruise control with stop and go. This thing is just fantastic if you do long distance cruising.

I can't tell exactly what it is but it is just an unbelievable feeling to open the door, get out of the car, and give the door a soft touch and it closes slowly and then sucks right in. It's fantastic. And it is easier for the kids to close the doors, too.

Push button trunk - This one goes straight to the kids and their back packs. My E60 didn't have this feature and I had numerous problems with kids (because they brought their packs inside the car's cabin). Once, my daughter's pack unknowingly pushed the cup holder button so when she got out of the car her pack ripped it off ($175 for the fix). Now, with the F10 and the push button trunk, they put their packs in the trunk and push the button to close the trunk. I push the button to open it for them. It's worked out perfectly.

Adaptive Cruise Control - Not a surprise for me on the F10. I ordered my F10 because I wanted this feature. It was a surprise for me on the E60, which I bought not knowing about this feature and was surprised when "there it was." This is such an underrated feature and it is never included on dealer stock so nobody ever finds out how cool it is. I got lucky with the E60. I made sure I got it with the F10.

Overrrated

Navigation - This feature doesn't even work. The routing is dreadful. I have numerous photos I've taken of ridiculous routes. So anyone who says they like Nav is delusional.

The Black Panel Display (which I already basically said as it comes with the Technology Package) deserves its own message.

Love it. Beautiful. It's the best of both worlds, being digital "trick" values, however looking classy and mechanical (instead of like a video game which will look dated in the future). It carries the classic BMW tach look using its digital pizazz.

Side/Top View Camera- I rely on the Top view cameras daily when parking
4 Zone AC- my rear passengers love this ability to adjust their air
HUD- i really wanted the black panel display that came with HUD,now I love it
SAT-just more options to adjust the personality of the car

Thoughts?

No one likes multi-contour seats? I love mine. I also like the soft-close doors and power trunk. The split fold-down rear seats have been a really good option for us and I like the integral active steering when driving on winding roads.

One shocking option with BMW, split fold down seats as an option simply nuts considering this is standard in cars that cost as match as the option itself.
one example on how BMW take us for a ride with options

For me it was the option of a manual transmission. This is the main/only reason I considered a 5 series, and I commend BMW for offering it. Proper RWD sedans with a (somewhat) sporty nature and a manual transmission are getting harder and harder to come by these days. Kudos to BMW and Cadillac for continuing to offer them, and at price points below the top-tier M and V models.

The least liked option (not really an option though) is the electric power steering...

I have to agree with the Europeans, the new Nav is great - and works brilliantly with the colour HUD. However, the most "commented on" feature by other people in the car are the Comfort Seats. Not only are they more comfortable than many expensive lounge chairs, but the way the pneumatic bolsters grip you when the engine starts seems to delight most of my front seat passengers

I really like the carbon ceramic trim! It was part of the executive package, and I didn't think much of it. But I had a loaner 5 series without it and I thought the knobs all felt cheap and plastic-y. Very glad I got the ceramic controls on my car.
Would have loved to have bought that but it's a $A1500 option here!!!

I'm thinking about retrofitting the side view cameras to point towards the blind spot and code it that it comes on at any speeds.
Sorry - must disagree...the side view camera is fantastic. I use it on a weekly basis...I never before realised how many blind driveways or streets etc. I pull out of. Especially here where I live in an old part of the city where the streets are narrow, no-one has offstreet parking & thus folks park (illegally) right to the kerb alignment which makes it really hard to get out of some streets. You really have to 'nose' slowly out in a lot of places & the side view camera just makes it so much easier. Still...it's horses for courses.

Ummm...HUD, collision detection system that displays a red car in the HUD when the car in front is too close, comfort heated/cooled seats (fantastic!!!), auto boot features (kick under rear bumper to open + button in boot to lock BOTH boot & the car), SAT, steering wheel controls to scroll thru your music (& display it in the dash) & last but not least the fantastic new black panel display (option 6WB) - WOW! is it good. I'm still coming to grips with all the various display modes & info contained therein.

I don't think I could live without HUD anymore! I've driven rentals, friend's cars and whatever and always end up looking for info displayed on the windshield haha looking down onto the console is just such a hassle to do now...

It would be great if BMW would let us make the HUD's more customizable like a smart HUB of sorts where info that we desire is readily displayed.

Well, my Lexus GS did not have split fold down seats, not even as an, option which is why I think this is a great option in the BMW. Cost was only $475, not at all exorbitant IMO.

Oh, and I love the Parking Sensors. Being that all these nannies have trained me to be horrible to trust my own senses while parking, I now need them.

I will order on my LCI

- comfort seats
- all the camera's
- active front steering
- m sport suspension (or M sport package)
- sunroof
- LED headlights
- hifi pro or B&O
- nav pro with all the usb/iphone kit
- alcantara headliner

I will not order it with

- active cruise control
- HUD
- side & lane assist
- infra red camera
- active suspension

So in general I love my gadgets and don't like all the driver aids.
