I went camping again, in Belgium. Here are a couple photos of my F10 in the 'wilderness'. With these new ACS springs, even though the stance is lower even before loading the car, the extra weight of all my camping gear does not further lower the car as much as it used to.

Here and I thought BMW owners' idea of "roughing it" was no valet parking at the hotel!! Then again, I wouldn't let a valet anywhere near my car!!

lol right! hope he put the ebrake on as it would suck balls to wake up the next morning and see your car down the hill in that dude's camper and the satellite dish as a new hood ornament

The picture is deceiving 'cause it wasn't that close to the edge, but yeah, I don't think I would have laughed at all if my car rolled backwards and down the hill. My wife, on the other hand, now that's another story. She would have laughed.

True story - I've gotten into the habit of always engaging the parking brake (or e-brake on our F10s) every time I park, probably from driving several cars over the years with manual transmissions. I always figured that using the parking brake on an automatic transmission would release some stress on the transmission, and would make sure that the parking brake itself didn't stick due to regular use. Of course, it has the added advantage of immobilizing the car. I wonder if I'm the only one or if others of us use the e-brake on our F10s all the time.

Cheers.

I've been doing it for years; ever since I found out what holds the trans in "P". It's a small piece of steel about half the diameter of a #2 pencil called a parking pawl.

Exactly. This I knew, but I couldn't remember what that pin was was called. I've heard horror stories over the years of these pawls being abused and of course failing with often catastrophic results.
