So I haven't driven my car for a week, then I hopped in this week... didn't notice until I tried to open the ash tray.... the door is broken!!!

My suspicion is that the valet from 2 weeks ago scrounged and took all my quarters and spilled some pennies over into the hinge and forced it closed.... WTF!!!!

Annoying, sure, but repairable. Should be able to free it up by removing the center console trim piece. Do a search here or on YouTube for the DIY, it's super easy to remove. It's literally 1 screw and a few clips that hold it into place. Just be mindful of the wires beneath it when pulling it out.

Since we're on the topic, does anyone know of an ashtray delete available for that spot?

My wife leans on the console every time she gets out of the car. On more than one occasion the trim piece has come loose from the lid and the door won't open. After some fiddling I was able to get the trim completely off and then I just snap it back on. It takes some patience and time, but if that is your issue it is an easy fix.
