Looks like it's only compatible with the new iDrive/Nav system (2012 CIC-HIGH) which is being produced NOW (annoyingly for me who got my 2012 F30 in June) and I think that you then have to wait for Nuance Dragon Drive which I still don't believe is confirmed.
I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but is Siri integrated with the car's voice control? I rarely use my voice control!

All I got was an extra heading under my 'Office' menu which says 'Office Today' with a sub heading showing email and txt, but when either an email or txt is sent to my phone it doesn't update the car.
What's the point of the update adding the sodding menus if it doesn't provide the service !!! Very disappointed and all the hype of IOS6 has come to nothing. |

Did you turn "on" the "view in lock screen" on your phone settings/notifications/mail? |

Have you guys removed your phones and re-paired them after the upgrade? I haven't updated to iOS 6 but the thought crossed my mind from reading this post yesterday that a re-pair might resolve some issues.

re-paired the 4S this morning, than in the phone's Bluetooth settings for the connection with the car (tap blue arrow next to BMW xxxx) I turned on 'Show Notifications'. After a couple of seconds, I had 3 entries in Office (Contacts, Office today, Messages), and in Phone there is now also an additional Messages entry. It only shows the messages that come in from that moment on, not the unread emails I had in my Inbox before re-pairing it to the car...
Note 1: when a SMS came in on the phone, it didn't show a notification in the iDrive screen, however, it was there when I went to Messages. Note 2: my F11 is from 05/2011, but with updated bluetooth software from the BMW USA website Last edited by BDV; 09-20-2012 at 10:56 AM.. |

I installed the latest BMW software upgrade for external devices and re-paired the I phone.
No luck. Show notifications is enabled. View in lock screen is enabled for all. I seen no changes in either the Connected drive or Office screens. Thanks for the help Live Larger - |

Ok, interesting this but it is now working for SMS now.
I re-paired my iPhone 4 to the car as suggested and it made no difference. Then I paired my wife's iPhone 4S and SMS started working, so I thought it was down to the fact she had the newer type phone. Then I reconnected my iPhone 4 again and this time SMS started working with my phone. Quite bizarre !! Still can't get email but happy SMS is now working. You don't get a notify sound but instead whatever screen/menu you are in, whenever a new SMS comes in, my 3G symbol turns into an envelope. All I have to do is press my voice control button on the steering wheel and say 'Messages' and it takes me direct to the new message. If you are driving you can use the I drive controller to scroll down 2 clicks and get the system to read your message back to you so you don't have to take your eyes off the road to read it. Quite clever really albeit the English is not always perfect but it works well enough. I have an iPhone 5 coming in the next few days so it will be interesting to see if the feature improves or email works. I'd still be interested to hear from other users about whether they have got theirs working any better. |

I went to the most recent posts on the following thread today and was able to get SMS working with an Apple 4s.
http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthre...=iphone&page=5 The information above regarding delivery of messages is quite helpful too! Thanks |

1. Repair your phone. 2. Go to the Bluetooth menu in your iPhone (under settings). 3. After your device is discovered, click on the device or otherwise click on the arrow to the right on the entry for the device. 4.Slide show notifications to yes. This all has to take place before you fiddle with idrive. Now, go setup the idrive part as described in the various threads on this subject. |

I'm trying to update my BMW software from:
MX-003.0040.31 & TX-003.004.031 to MX-003.005.004 & TX-003.005.004 Every time I try, the progress bar reaches 89% and locks. I'm not sure if I need this update to view SMS messages but remain confused none the less! Can anyone help? |
