If you check out the pic those canards are just a little too long. I am going to have to shave it down a bit and also installing these without taking off the front bumper will be pretty much a MAJOR pita..

The front spoiler part is flexible and when dry fitted onto the front bumper it hits the middle hump of the bumper and makes the front spoiler contort which makes it look tacky...

I'm hoping these canards will give me that extra clearance to bypass that hump and keep the spoiler flat. I would get the all CF versions of these BUT I don't want to spend over 400 bucks for something that will crack the 1st parking cap I hit. Also, If I were going to spend that much on a custom setup I may as well just pat the extra couple hundred bucks to buy a replica hamann or the kelleners front lips...

I'll dry fit on my next day off with double sided tape and see how much I have to trim off of the canards.. they are PU as well and PU is very forgiving...

Once I get everything cut and lined up to where I want it, I plan on painting the whole setup gloss black. I'm going to use bolts, washers, nuts, and double sided tape to secure everything.

Haven't undertaken this yet. So many projects so little time. Been dealing with home renovations for the last few months. Sneak in 550i time when I can. I have decided to install the m5 style fenders so when the front bumper comes off at the body shop I can sneak in and get it done then. Those guys there are pretty cool and wouldn't mind me going in and messing around with my front bumper.

Once done I'll post pics.

So I have abandoned my idea for the custom built front lip and bought this! The Hamann style front lip that should fit this replica bumper. Another member had the Kelleners front lip which is a play on the Hamann lip. The CF version was going for 600 dollars after shipping but I got this primered version for 249!

I can also use the canards that I purchased as well. Over-all it should look pretty damn good! Can't Wait!!!!

I wonder if any other front lips fit M5 replica bumpers.

I've tried the splitters and no they do not fit the replica bumpers. I doubt the other would. This piece fits from the bottom so even if it's a little wider it will be okay.

A shame the splitters don't, I might contact a vendor that has the front lip and get the dimensions, based on that I can measure the replica bumper opening and see if its a close fit.

Nothing currently in production will fit the "face" of the m5 rep bumper. However I believe that one's that are mounted from the bottom like the Kelleners and Hamann will fit...

The oem m5 bumper is wider. However I have not actually considered this chin lip. It may work but like you said in an earlier post you need the exact dimensions of this...

Yeah, that I know because of the fenders, I'm just wondering if its wider on the outer edges and not the actual center to make it look as close to OEM as possible. This is probably the route I will go when I get my car back from the shop. If I consider getting one of these I'll report back on fitment.

So, got the Hamann Style Lip in today via DHL. It was shipped 3 day express from Taiwan. The lip itself is FRP but it is pretty beefy and heavy. Not flimsy at all. I would have preferred a PU lip but when one is avalable I will just sell this one to an M5 dude. I did a test fit and I am pleased to report that the fitment is about 94.5%. Its obvious that this is an M5 front lip but it works, but not perfectly. Finally something that works.

I believe that once I screw down the bolts from the bottom of the bumper onto the lip the PU material of the front bumper will form around the lip. Over-all it fits and looks very good.

lsturbointeg, I fitted the canards and I won't really get an accurate fitting until this is secured on the bumper. I am going to paint this lip gloss black and install asap! The sode cans show how much clearance I will have from ground to lip with my car dropped on eibach springs

Again, a link for those interested...

Onto the pics.. sorry, I have $hitty cropping skills...

Fitment doesn't look too bad from pics.. What's wrong with Fitment? Are you planning on painting it black or vinyl wrap carbon fiber ?

In the middle of the lip where it raises to meet the hump underneath the bumper it doesn't fit flush all the way. However, once I bolt the lip on it should for pretty good. This is definitely going on my car. I love how it looks. In reality the only way someone is going to notice that it is slightly off is if they get on their hands and knees and look straight at the bottom of my bumper.

I am going to rattle can it at home in a gloss black. If I get bored I can always plasti-dip it matte. No CF, never liked anything CF besides the exterior emblems.

Looks like u have enough clearance especially with soda cans as a reference! With the canards it's probably gonna add another 1/4"? Looks like it's going to look pretty sweet!
