Yes. That's how I replaced mine. You just need to turn the wheel on each side to access the bulb. No need to lift up the car although it will be easier if you jack it up.

We are talking about the headlights and not fog lights... right?

For those looking for a decent deal on the Osram CBI D1S ... here is a UK online site currently has 15% off total purchases (valid until Dec 24/2011). They come in indvidual Osram box.

Voucher Code: Winter15

http://www.powerbulbs.com/store/cate...2s-d2r-d1s-d1r

After discount - $140US (approx) each with free world wide delivery.

If compared to retrofit source store, Matt sells the unboxed (slight variation with different part#) CBI version of $175US a pair (last heard), but for those who are skeptical and want to make sure the bulb is in the Osram box, then that's for sure it's the real thing.

Install is easy:

1- Jack up the car and turn wheel all the way to opposite side. ( You don't have to jack the car up, but it will definitely make it easier and save you from busting out hudini moves just to get in there)

2- Remove two screws to open the little door on fender lining.

3- Remove cover where the D1S bulb is located.

4- Make sure car is COMPLETELY off, no power going to headlights or anything.

5- Unplug the power plug connection located on the bottom of D1S bulb.

6- Twist bulb counter clockwise and remove.

7- Swap out D1S bulbs and re insert and re connect plug.

8- Put everything back together and repeat on steps on the other side.

9- Enjoy!!!
Hi folk,

does anybody make any experiences replacing the bulbs on a LCI model?

Step 3 is the main issue. AFAIK the Pre LCI came with a cover that could be screwed off by twisting the cover anti-clockwise. The LCI cover is fixed by 4 TORX 20 screws.

I have no idea how to remove the inner top screw because I really do not have access to this screw from inside the door at the fender lining.

Any advice is welcome.

There’s an additional squarish screwed in housing - anyone have experience replacing D1S bulbs with such? Ref: 2015 535i M Sport
