Just as a back up, I'm sitting on a set of '07 M6 mufflers ready for a quad tip conversion just in case I tire of chrome square tips. If I go that route, I think all will be lost since I'll want to put on an M5 style diffuser, add some 3" mandrel bent pipes all over, drop the car with some coil overs, through in some Dinan 2, etc (Yikes!)
They look good, I am glad it worked out

Hey Jimmy I'm wondering if you can post some pictures from the side profile I'm concerned about the tips angling downwards.

I already have the borla tips and planning to do this Mod soon so I am just taking some extra precaution.

Possible to Cut Downstream of Flapper Valve?

I'd be more concerned about the 4" diameter outlet, since the factory muffler outlets are about 3-1/2" apart, center to center, the 4" dia. tips will be a very tight fit -both side to side and up against the 550 standard diffuser.

Its worth a try, you can always return the tips to Summit and go with 3" tips like the ones I installed
Is it possible to cut downstream of the flapper valve instead of upstream of it and just trim the Borla tip down then weld it?

Looks good!

I just put the cyba 90mm tips on my m5 comp package exhaust. they are a little bigger, so they fill out the space in the m5 diffuser a little more.

did you consider the exhaust meister (device plugs into the electronic module for the exhaust flaps) and allows you to manually open and close the flaps...you can also program it to the home link.

I too replaced my stock 19" rft's with 20" Michellin PSS and ACS Springs.

The car feels alot tighter!

I have to admit I liked the look of the original tips better - more suited to the car.

if you want good performance gains yet still keep everything quiet, I would look into a downpipe. totally serene and no sound or drone when cruising, but it opens up and sounds great when you really step on it!

Bringing this post back from the abyss.

I'm looking to just replace tips. And adding DTM style CF diffuser. Anyone can recommend the best size for the quad tips only that would fit the DTM style diffuser?

Reading prior post it's seems 3in would be the safest bet for stock diffuser.

for a DTM diffuser i'd recommend at least 3.5" max 4". i wish i could get 4" but my Meisterchaft's only allow a 3.5" tips

3.5" with a DTM diffuser

mine was a bad fitment as well since it's from Ebay. i did have to work it a bit. taking the rear bumper helped. i had to drill some holes in the tabs and than put screws to keep the tabs from popping out. Here's a picture of mine

535i tip alternative

First post, so don't be too hard on me...I wanted quads on my 535 with the sport diffuser for the longest time, after looking through all of the ebay links, and other vendors, I settled on using the tips from a Porsche 997. they more or less were a direct fit for the the stock exhaust (after removing some material from the muffler side), and look pretty damn similar to the Borla tips in this thread. FYI
