Dust in Instrument Cluster
What’s going on here.
How does this much dust get inside the instrument cluster? I keep a very clean car, and this is just horrible by now. Any way to get it out!? Thanks. :| |

See my previous post on marks on the inside of the instruments cluster. Surprisingly, it is not too difficult to remove the cluster (there is a video showing how on my posting) and take the front cover off so you can clean the inside of the cluster. Annoyingly I lived with the problem for 2+ years before working up the courage to fix it. Good as new now.

I have the exact same issue, and brought it up with the dealership since the car is still under warranty. They blasted some compressed air through it and got maybe a 40% improvement, but ultimately still looks like a cluster from a 300k mile car. Pretty bad for a 4yr old car with 35k miles...

Removing the cluster is easy. .
From there, there are 8 torx screws holding the cluster together. Should take you no more than 20 mins for the entire process. One item to note, there is a tamper/warranty sticker on the back of the cluster that must be removed to open up the cluster. If your car is out of warranty, no problem, but something to keep in mind should your car still be covered under warranty. |

I've done this on a couple of cars.
The cluster comes apart very easily, and is simple to clean it up. I used microfiber cloth with lens cleaning solution. Dust, and sometimes a bit of dried cleaning liquid gets in around the odometer reset button. |
