Hidden feature... Touch Sensitive buttons!
Didn't know that the radio channel selector buttons are touch sensitive! if you just touch and hold a number (don't push it in) it will show you the radio channel!
any other cool hidden features?! |

Being as you didn't know about this, you may not realise the buttons can also be used for a lot more then radio stations, i.e. Navigation address, phone number, climate setting etc etc.

Not sure why a feature which is well documented in the Owners Manual (p. 23 in the printed US version) should be qualified as "hidden"...?
Ok, here's a "hidden" one for audio and high-end nuts: There is one lossless (uncompressed) Audio format which also supports both embedded id tags and cover art if played back from the center console USB port: WMA 9.2 lossless! The other uncompressed WAV format doesn't support tags nor cover art, and all other audio formats supported by iDrive (MP3, AAC and other WMA incarnations) are "lossy".

Well, I use button number 8 to switch profiles for my fiancée. Then, you program her button 8 to switch it back to your profile. When programmed properly, you will see her profile name appear when your finger hovers over button 8 when it is currently on your profile. It is a quick way to know your profile. It works both ways. Whatever name appears when you hover, the opposite is currently selected.
When she hits button 8 (because the key memory did not automatically switch profiles and seat adjustments for some reason) her seat will move, plus all of her programable buttons switch to her preferences. But, by keeping her button 8 and my button 8 to switch to each others profile it now makes it very easy! Next, the savvy dudes (or dudettes) will see that they can set another button to a third profile and vice versa. This opens up another set of programmable buttons for you. Next, I use button 7 (in her profile and mine) to switch each others primary cell phones around. This way her cell phone can be primary when she wants it. Too bad the profiles don't hold the primary cell phone, so this was my work around. I make button 1 on both profiles BMW search. Very useful. Button 2 switches between split screen and widescreen. This comes in handy when names of songs are cut off etc. |

BMWrules7, thanks. Very useful.
Are you really saying that the F10 _doesn't_ automatically change seat/mirror arrangement & iDrive profiles when a different key is used to operate the car? That's crazy. |

Planetary,
The key memory issue has been discussed here in the past. But, there is no direct link from a particular profile and a particular key fob. Instead, the last setting or profile in use when any particular key fob that locks the car is retained. So, over time, the seat settings will degrade and you will find that both key fobs will end up with the nearly the same seat position. Assuming two people drive the car, of course. If you make sure to lock the car with your own key fob and never allow any one else to use it then it should be fine. But, a profile directive is a good way to return the seats to any particular preset. The best way that will not degrade is to use the actual seat memory recall button on the door.
