Raced my buddy's 2012 cls63
So I got a 2011 f10 550i x drive with active autowerk downpipes and exhaust with bms stage 2 vs my buddy's stocks 2012 cls63 & from a standstill it was no competition I would eat him all the way to 120 and we would slow down but from 60 & 80 mph rolls he would take me by half a car I wasn't running stage 2 aggressive mode just regular stage 2 with 93 fuel I was switching at around 5,800-6,000k rpm. Any one know if I run stage 2 aggressive mode and add a octane booster if I can take him than ?

From rolling you could try keeping your revs higher. IIRC the turbos on the N63 only kick in at 3k and most people I've read like to shift at 5k to get maximum torque before the band starts curving downwards.
But you're talking turbo vs N/A so he has no time to spool up like us to kick in that extra oomph.

I wouldnt run an octane booster unless it was Torco or a PROVEN REAL octane booster (nothing at an auto parts store is real). Torco is about $24 per bottle and will treat 10 gallons to bump 5 points or 5 gallons for 10 points (about 105 octane). If its not a tolulene based booster, its just BS and you will end up scattering your engine everywhere. You could also try a 35% of E85 mixed in (downside is you have to drive it for a while to let the fuel trims adjust and also for the knock sensors to allow for more timing) but thats a sketchy setup as it will also lean your car out and unless you have a scan tool or wideband you have no way to verify anything. If you run straight 100 octane or an octane boosted equivalent you can add about 3 lbs of boost safely which pending the turbos not running out of steam up top, would give you about 30-40 horsepower gain.

Impressive! My cousin has a 2012 CLS63 performance Pack with a are tech Stage 1 tune. He dynoed at 580whp and 624wtrq I have a 2014 550xi with full catkess exhaust and custom ECU tune (maiine dyno - lowest reading dyno. Even lower then mustang at 490 HP which is like 550-560whp on a dyno jet. Anyway.. 40-120 it's a draw and 120-160 he takes me by about 2-3 cars. The AMG is a monster but at the end of the day I am AWD and he is RWD top end is inevitable !! |

There is nothing a stage 2 kit does that will burn out a coil. If you are going thru coils, I'd look elsewhere for an explanation.

According to Terry at BMS, "If you have a faulty coil, plug, or injector, you're going to find out when you try to run Stage2 power levels" So if this is true stage 2 is merely "revealing" a weak coil, but what's the difference if that coil would have worked perfectly fine for who knows how long without stage 2? |

its no different than chasing a CL500 down with an M5... mismatched cars. There are some good motor trend reviews of the new M5 vs the CLS63 and they are dead nuts even with the M5 having a slightly higher trap speed in the 1/4... a couple 550s on here are in stock M5 territory but you're right, modding a beast like that is deep in the 600s to the tires and out of 550i range without some serious work.

So thanks to badblack I raced my buddy's cls 63 again tonight this time I ran a 1/4 tank of 93 fuel with 2 cans of nos octane booster put stage 2 on aggresive mode and raised boost to 4.0 we did a few runs from a dead stop I would win by 3 cars, highway rolls we did 60 mph and 80 mph rolls till 135-140 and I would take him by half a car to a full car lol his reaction was priceless now just waiting on badblacks custom filter and some race gas and imma try the 1/4 mile
