550i exhaust tip removal

Can anyone describe the steps required to remove the exhaust tips on the 550...just the tips...I don't want to chop and re-weld new pipes, just want to tack weld new tips in place. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have searched and there isnt a clear set of instruction or description on removal of stop trapizoidal tips? What should be noted and what should be looked out for and what best recommended set of steps are to be taken..etc. Thanks in advance.

Check out this thread for one approach. I purchased the same Borla tips (chrome to be painted black chrome) and plan to install them in the same manner.

Thanks for the link...I take it there isn't anyway to modify just the exhaust tip...because the link provided has the pipes cut off from the the edge of the muffler onwards...the flap valve included...is the flap valve not important!? Will it bring up a error code?

If you read the thread, someone posted a link to another thread that explains the function of the butterfly valve on the mufflers. Several people have posted about blocking the valve open, with the only result being a bit more exhaust note.

If your not going to use the back pressure hoses with valve control definitely plug them good. You don't want to leave them open.
