2011 535i options and after market upgrades
Hi all,
I'm looking at buying a 2011 535i. I mainly care about getting the sportiest most dynamic ride. What after market functional upgrades would you recommend? I am considering getting all the M5 aesthetic bits but curious about functional options. Also, are there any options I should make sure the car has? I know early in 2011 there was a sport package option that didn't include the body bits. Later the m sport package became available. What was in the original sport option and what was in the m sport. Should I even bother getting a sport or m sport if I will do after market upgrades like springs coilovers chip etc. ? Thanks for any info anyone can provide. |

is there a build date that i should look for. I heard there were issues with early cars. At what point in 2011 were the issues addressed? I still don't understand the functional difference between the sport and Msport (obviously i see the aesthetic difference)/

I just signed on a Carbon Black 2011 with M-Sport and have gone through what you're going through. I will be picking up the car tomorrow.
- My understanding is that pre-September 2010 builds are the 'early' cars. - M-Sport vs. Sport can be found on page 73 of this Ordering Guide

I agree with the post Sep 2010 build date. Off the top of my head, Sport pkg added shadowline (black) trim, 19" wheels, thicker steering wheel, and the option to add dynamic handling package. M-Sport became available sometime around Aug or Sept 2010 and added the obvious asthetics (front/rear bumpers and side skirts), M-Sport 19" wheels, an even thicker steering wheel, and anthracite headliner. The dynamic handling package was standard on 2011 M-sport. So to answer your question, if you find a Sport equipped with DHP, there is no functional difference.
