i-drive & text messages
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com It was working fine with my old iphone 5, don’t remember if it was only when connected to the snap in cradle in the centre consol. i also made sure all the notification display settings are on in my new phone, but still no luck Thanks for any feedbacks folks. |

It should also work with your iPhone 7 - works fine on my 7 plus. I was going to remind you to turn on notifications, but you mentioned you did that. You don't have to have it connected to the cradle for it to work. Works fine over BT. Not sure what to recommend, other than to delete both the connection from the phone and the car, and re-pair. If i remember right, the phone has to be locked for the text message to show up on the I-drive.

You do in fact need to have the phone locked to have the messages show up in the screen. By design, it truncates the messages down to, I think, 40 characters on the screen. Now, I thought it was an issue with my software, but the SA at BMW said the iPhone 7 is not compatible to be able to respond back (through dictation, voice, or touchpad) to any text messages. The really irritates me as I depended on that voice dictation to respond to text messages that were urgent.
