Idrive Reset

I'm posting this because I was searching for a solution and couldn't find it. I fixed it by accident so I'm posting it in case anyone has the same issue.

I brought my 2011 550i in for annual service. When I received it back, the idrive selection feature didn't work. I could scroll through the first page of menu options but couldn't select anything.

I tried holding the eject button and radio power button in at the same time with no result. I disconnected the negative on the battery with no result other than erasing the time.

Finally, for some reason, I held down the idrive knob while simultaneously pressing the eject button and radio power button. Now the idrive selection feature works(pushing down on idrive knob to select menu options).

I know E90 had to press eject+radio power for reset, but this didnt work on F10. If you press radio power alone for 10sec+, idrive itself will reboot.

On the older CCC like in early E90 it was "Eject+Power button" to reset

On the newer CIC ( like F10, E90 LCI and F30) its "Hold down the Volume(power) button for 25 Seconds" to reset the system
