Very cool! I'm so glad bmw did not mess this up. The interior layout is awesome too but i'm not feeling the brown or wierd trim and the center sections of the seats.

please dont tell me this is the regular 5...
i mean its nice for a 5 series hatchback for for the main 5 it looks too much like a crossover between a sedan and an suv.

if they came out with a pure sedan version of this it would be my fav bmw out

Ok, now that more pics are up I'd like to mention a few things:

1) I LOVE the new steering wheel. I really hope the two-tone leather (/alcantara?) makes it into production.

2) I like the interior but I'm not crazy about the insets of the seats, and I wish the seats themselves were more shapely, a la Audi.

3) The greenhouse is too big, specifically around the C-pillar. I'm sure this reduces blind spots significantly, but it really takes away from the sporty look of a fastback design. Also, this car would look infinitely better if the greenhouse was lower, making for a sportier roofline, and yes, less practicality.

4) The front bumper doesn't look as good as I was expecting in the new pics, almost Hyundai Genesis-esque, but it still looks good. I really hope it's the lens of the camera that creates the blobby effect I'm seeing.

5) The grille and headlights are perfect imo.

6) The hood also looks great, with very powerful looking lines and sculpting.

7) The tail is GOD awful, judging from the pics. The taillights I can work with. It's the lip of the butt and the garish chrome bar that piss me off. It's gaudy and clumsy looking.

8) Continuing my rant about the rear: The lower portion of the tailgate throws off the proportions. The protruding part of the bumper, along with the lower end of the tailgate, should be placed much higher. It creates a sagging look which I'm not crazy about. I need to see it in person.

9) I'm inconclusive in regards to the sculpting above the lower swage line.

CS concept which i love. Im glad to see BMW is incorporation
the CS concept into the new designs... I really like it. If

gonna look really nice... Good job BMW, im really liking how this car came out!!!!

I guess this bumper design isn't accurate anymore?

I'm glad, actually, I like the PAS's headlights much more. The bumper above has headlights that seem a little too soft, I much prefer the angular look on on the PAS.

Edit: Just noticed the Angel Eyes...could it be that we may not need to mod them any more? They're white, and both rings seem pretty well lit!

That's actually not a bad way of putting it, but it's more like "F01 + Concept CS + X6".

Are we sure this is the next generation 5er? The next gen isnt scheduled until the 2011 MY, whats with unvieling it so early?!

That being said, I def need to see some more shots, but I am loving the hood and how it flows into the front bumper, reminds me of the new Z4, which i ABSOLUTELY love!

It's not really the next gen 5er. I believe it's based off of the same platform, but it's supposed to fill in the "gap" (if there really is a substantial one) between the 5 series and the X5/X6.

Why don't they offer these satin-esque paint jobs on production models?

Well with the creation of this vehicle, i no longer see a purpose for the 5 series wagon, continuing to build one would IMO useless.

I do LOVE the BOLD shoulder line running the length of the vehicle, they way it approaches and almost curves over the front wheel arch is gorgeous, best implementation of a shoulder line i've ever seen

Wow, the more I think of it the more I like it! The front is spectacular!
I think it's good that BMW yet again shows that they are ahead of the competion in some ways.

These new (X6 & GT) practial yet sporty looking vechicles sure are niche products and the market will follow!

I can't wait for the M5 GT if they make one! That would fix the front bumper that isnt really that sporty and a little like Bimmer Loy said, Genesis coupe-ish.
