Center headrest in backwards -- HELP!

I was taking my baby seat out of the back seat, and accidentally put the center headrest in backwards. Now it's stuck and won't come out. Any suggestions?
The dealer says they have to take the leather off the seat to get it out. I have Nappa leather with fold down seats. Anyone had this problem? Thanks for anyone's help.

The struggle is real...

On a serious note have you tried prying it out? I almost want to go turn mine around now to see why it won't come out lol.

I haven't gotten it back from service. It was in for a few other things and I thought it would be an easy fix. They said they tried everything, and next on their list was 2.5 hours of labor --taking the leather off the seat and seeing what's holding it. I thought I would try myself or get some other advice before I spent $350 for that. Go figure!

Well the dealer is an idiot.. I figured it out in a couple minutes haha.

Here's what the headrest looks like out. Funny enough both sides look identical.

There's a metal catch inside both holes however the right one only actuates when the release is depressed.

So yeah I win the darwin award for putting it in backwards.. sure enough won't come back out! lol

Here is the fix... small pick or pry tool (flathead might work too) and pop the cover off the mount without the release button. You will have to pry on it until it pops slightly, rotate and continue until it releases from all sides. After that cover is removed you will barely see a metal retaining clip on the left side. Push it back towards the rear glass to pop it off.

Remove headrest!!!

To install the metal clip again you have to insert the headrest back into the mount slightly and you should be able to push it back on towards you with your hand. Pop the plastic cap back on and you're done!

Thanks man! You're awesome! Now, I owe you $350.

If I had it back home I could have checked it out myself, but it's still
at the dealer awaiting parts for other things. I told them yesterday
that I would try to fix it myself because I knew there had to be
an easy fix.

Thanks for going to the trouble of looking at it yourself and actually
getting yours stuck to get it off.

No problem! I'm glad I could help. When you pick the car up you should repair it in front of the service advisor lol.

I went by the dealer today because they're still waiting for a part and followed your instructions. I did it with my hand in less than a minute. Thanks again!!!
