Rear diffuser (non-M) wrapped
Just got my rear diffuser wrapped in matte black today and plasti dipped my grille yesterday. JL Audio XD600/1 and JL Audio 12W6v2 installed two weeks ago. Just waiting on someone to develop xDrive specific coilovers so I can order some satin black 20" Morr VS8.2s!

Looks good. I wrapped mine myself in the carbon fiber vinyl. Considering doing a clear coat on it . . .

there are shops all over the southern cali area that do them I might just try it again but i'll make sure I have enough material. Ebay has some 3m material in the $20 range...

Would it be difficult to buy the 3M wrap material off ebay and DIY? Is the diffuser easily removed and re-attached?

it will be a little difficult, from a range of 1-5, 5 being the most difficult I would say it's a 3.75 lol... The curvature of the bottom portion will be the hard part as well as going around the tips. The non "M" bumper is one piece so it cannot be attached without cutting.

So I guess the only way to wrap the diffuser is to remove the entire bumper and then wrap just the diffuser. I imagine it would be awfully inconvenient to wrap just the diffuser while the bumper is still attached to the car. Did you have yours cut and removed for the wrap?

The bumper wasn't removed and the diffuser wasn't cut. It was installed without removing anything.

I've got 2 JL 12" W6 in my trunk. I put the control knob in the same spot. Do you have a pice from inside the trunk? I used a JL 700/1 amp to power both 12's. I love it. Sounds awesome. Ill take pics tomorrow of my setup in the trunk.

I didn't take any pics of the box inside the trunk, I didn't do anything special with it, it's just kinda there. hahaha. But if you want to see a pic I could take one tomorrow.

Here are a couple pics. U can see where the box has a port and that enter into the cabin from the center armrest in the back seat.

Wow Hunter, that looks awesome! Mine is just in a plain sealed box, no lights or any other sexy accessories.
BigMike: That's exactly how it was done.

That looks great. Any rattling from your fuel door when you turn up the volume?
I have a 13.5W7 in a ported rectangular box, and when I have it fire toward the back, my fuel door nearly blew off. I've noticed that if I face the port up the rattle is nearly gone, though it doesn't sounds as good. |
