535i joins our X5 in the garage

New (to me) CPO 2014 535i Xdrive, black sapphire metallic on dakota black, luxury line; joins our 2016 X5, space gray metallic on dakota MSport.

Yes, before anyone says, I'm planning to put the black kidneys on the X5, as well as the IND gloss black roundels (front and back) and the gloss black X5. Also planning to take off the "XDrive 35i" on the X5.

No big mods for the 535; I'll probably take off the "XDrive" and 535i, but for now that's it. I might do the all black roundels and center caps on the wheels, but we'll see.

the X5 is the wife's daily driver and the 535 replaces my 2007 Honda CRV that made it (RIP) to 200K miles!

Now my OCD kicks in to hyperdrive...

I must now lurk on 2 forums, X5 AND 5 series

when we shopped for SUV'S the x5 was off the list, due to how sporty it was (previous gen), wife doesn't like it too sporty.

I wanted the x5 diesel...but didn't happen, since it was her car. she chose the mdx

nice f10 as well congrats on the new purchase!

We actually traded in an '04 MDX for the X5; don't really care much for the new versions of the MDX. My wife oohh and ahhh's over the pictures I show her of both X5's and 5 series....

Going to work on the chrome on the X5, especially with the shadowline trim. Not sure how much chrome I'm going to work on the 535...not sure I can handle an entirely black car, need some contrast

I think the X5 is fine! You can see how the Shadowtrim on the X5 looks really good! As far as the chrome accents on the F10 it's all over the car! Unless you plan on leaving her completely stock than that's fine!

For now on the 535 I'm considering the full black rounders and wheel caps. I may also switch out the chrome side markers. Probably leave the rest chrome.

I finally received the bits I needed from IND to calm down the chrome some. Body color front and rear reflectors, front and back gloss black roundels, gloss black side markers, the gloss black wheel caps they have, and removed the "X drive" and "535i". Now I just need to find the right Darth Vader license plate for the front, and I'm set. It already had a front license plate attachment, so rather than take it off and deal with holes in the bumper, I'll put it to good use.

I'm giving the X5 similar treatment (ex the reflectors) in a few more weeks.

Also cleaned it with my new toys from Chemical Guys.....I didn't realize I've been doing it wrong all these years! Of course, 5 minutes after I'm done cleaning it, the **** thing is already dusty!!

all the parts came from IND http://ind-distribution.com/ind/categories

they had to order the OEM roundel for the back and paint it; I think they have the front roundels in stock.

still a bit undecided on the front grills; not sure I want the fully blacked out look

How much extra would they charge for that kind of work? They already seem expensive!

It looks amazing blacked out. Although, I'm going the other direction...and it will be white...don't ask.

same price as currently shown on their website; you just have to wait a few extra days. I worked with Ryan at IND; if you send them a message they respond quickly. I suspect they will do custom painting for any color you want since they use the OEM roundels and paint them....
