Mr Angry damaged his one rim today
Hello All,
I am currently kicking my own ar#e today, I scraped my front trim maneuvering past a bus in busy traffic, at 1 mph... first time in 32 years driving Slight damage, chipped/scraped around 5 inches on rim right by tyre wall (tyre/tire is 100% OK). Saw some threads on best DIY repair, would appreciate advice on kits, especially with proper colors (colours)... so mad

Hi,
My wife got the first scuff a few days ago in our car and I was soo gutted. Rang my local dealer who suggested it could be between £80-100 to repair. I am going to take it to the dealer to get a better quote. What type wheels are yours? Is it the painted type if so a local repair should be easy enough to get done. MalithS |

I scuffed my front wheel too :/ Awful feeling isn't it! My dealer did a showroom fresh job of them for £60. You would never know they have done 77,000mls! Apart from the inside lol. Good as new otherwise!
BUT, makesure you get it re-balanced as mine were off balance afterwards so there was a bit of vibration till I had them done.

Thanks MalithS, 350M's
SomeRandomer123, also thanks, £60 sounds cheap.. I was looking to try and do it myself... anyone tried it lately and got the kit with the right alloy colour?

Unless they're diamond cut (i.e. as long as they're painted), it's actually easier than you might expect, as long as you can get to all the damage without having to take the tyre off. Various grades of sandpaper (from around 120 grit to start and up to around 2500 grit to finish) will do the job. BMW don't use too many different paint colours on their wheels, so a quick search on the web and you should be able to get the correct paint code. If you're friendly with your local BMW parts dept, they might even be able to help you get the right code. |
