Weird noises

From a couple of days I had been hearing a click noise from the front left tire when moving, I figured it was a small stone stuck to the tire and didn't give it much thought.

Yesterday, when reversing into my slot. I heard a click-click when turning the steering, I parked and diagnosed. I get 2-3 clicks when going from center to full lock either side but the noise is from the front left. Its definitely not some debris as it clicks even when the car is stationary.

I'm also getting a whistling/beeping noise from the hood when the engine is on. It never made this sound before and is very audible, not the kind which only us enthusiasts car hear.

Car is going to the shop, end of the week. I'd like to know what could possibly be wrong and if its safe to use the car in the mean time.

I drive a 530d.

If there's no smell of fuel, signs of fluid leakage or any other visible defect and the car feels ok to drive, I think you can rely on the car's fault indication system and assume that it's safe to carry on until you get the car into the dealer.

only wierd noises i hear are when i close the doors and car has been sitting still for a bit. Sounds like gears on the doors to make sure they are closed but I didn't add that option...

The whining/whistling has sorted itself. BMW's tend to do that?

The click noise while moving was a flat head screw.

The noise, caused by steering while stationary has been fixed by BMW. No idea what it was though, I got the maintenance pack so....

I have the same noise, get about 4-5clicking noise when turning the wheel lock to lock. I asked my dealer about this and they try to convince me it was normal with aluminum suspension and put me off. Of course I threaten them they're refusing warranty work and they're having a look at it next month.

Great, drove my car today and the sound is back minus the nail. Its not normal for sure.

Have them diagnose the problem and then talk about the warranty. Its pathetic how low BMW dealers/service centers can stoop.

I get a clicking noise from my brakes every time I shift from forward to reverse or from reverse to forward. Damned annoying. Started a thread here a couple of months ago, and got zero response from other posters, so maybe I am the only one with this problem? Dealer claims the noise is "normal". Now there's a big fat surprise.

afaik, on most cars break pads reseat thselves when going in reverse. it shouldn't make any noise though. it could be an out of spec pad.

my new 550xi doesn't seem to click when going fwd-to-rev. however, it does have a very VERY faint squeal when the ignition is on. it doesn't bother me but i noticed it. (i assume it's there when the engine is running, but there is no way you could hear it over the engine)

I just got my car back from the dealer. They replaced front wheel bearings, and the sound seems to be gone. I'm gonna test it some more and see if the noise is really gone. I'll also get a part number up.
