Saving wheel positions when changing to winter setup?

This might be a stupid question, but is it important to remember where each wheel was originally located when changing to 4 new wheels for the winter? So they can be mounted in the same locations next year? (530D Xdrive)

It's important for tire rotation purposes to help with even wear and extend lifetime. When it's time to remove seasonal tires, I use a marker to write on the sidewall where they were on the car in order to know how to rotate them next time around.

x2. Smart idea! Definitely rotate them when the spring starts for optimal tire wear.
