I really think we're all missing the reason for the original post - what to do with the pointless and out of place fender trim on an LCI M Sport 5 series. I have both a'14 M5 and a '14 550 M Sport - WHY ON EARTH DID BMW LEAVE THIS TRIM PIECE TO BEGIN WITH?
If they went so far as to redesign the mirror and the cheap looking plastic piece that replaced the original fender signal, why couldn't they have simply produced the fender without the hole or mount from the signal on the fender? If so, I could better understand why BMW still has the hole there. This one little area on the LCI 5 series has bothered me and I have tried to think of ways to improve it - or at least make it purposeful. Any idea why it is still there? Is there a version of an LCI car produced for the world that continues to use the signal? If not, I can only guess that BMW did not want to change the fender part design for replacements or cost cutting measures? But the mirror is different, why not remove the unnecessary part and hole altogether? In my opinion this is a poor decision - sounds like something GM or Ford would do mid-cycle!

Out of interest, why do you have an M5 and 550, lucky man, but is there a massive difference that you need both, or is there two of you? Not criticising, genuinely interested

I agree that having both models is a bit absurd - I have to admit that I bought the 550 for my wife. They are different colors though, haha.

Put the badge on if you want... But I think if you start putting them in places they don't belong (like you have in the picture) then it becomes a bigger issue and looks tacky. Put it where it goes on euro models and I'm with you. Put it where it doesn't belong and I start to feel much different.

I can relate. Up until very recently, both the wife and I had X5's. She had the 35i and I had the 50i though.
