SAT Fart noise during upshift with aftermarket exhaust?

Just noticed this after getting my supersprint exhaust installed with race pipes..... under normal acceleration the car sounds normal but noticed if i'm giving the car decent amount of throttle sometimes i hear a strange fart sound right after it UPSHIFTS. Happens for only a split second and seems to only happen when the car is under a certain load...

Anybody notice this with SAT and exhaust and know what cause this??

Alan

Strange sound for a backfire. My manual 335 backfired only if I was going WOT and shifted near redline. Sounded more like a loud pop or mini explosion where as the F10 sounds like deep sounding fart lol. I was looking it up and seems like all the Audi/VW with the DSG transmission has a similar sound during a upshift too.

Sounds as if the exhaust goes from positive pressure to negative pressure (vacuum) for a split second during the upshift.

Problem resolved. Turns out my supersprint exhaust was a tad too close to the driveshafts shield so it buzzed/rattled under certain loads. Bent the shield back a few mm and no more farting

Alan,

I don't know if the 535 has a similar configuration to the 550 (my car), but would like to know what parts of Supersprint did u purchase.

The question is actually, is it right that the system does require cutting i.e the system is not bolt on?

Hi not sure about the 550 but the 535 version requires you to cut the stock exhaust and either clamp it on or weld it.

I got the race mid pipe as well so my cut was further up front near the middle of the car.

Thanks Alan,

Have a couple of questions but do not want to go off topic in this thread.

Will be sending a pm.
