Question about strength of sunroof glass (non-Touring)

I am an amateur photographer and wanted to take some photos from inside my moving car. The plan is to use a suction-mounted camera mount and stick it on the sunroof glass from the inside. My camera is a Canon 7D, weight with lens would be 1.5 to 2kg max. Do I dare or am I pushing it?

I'd expect the glass to be strengthened so wouldn't expect that to be an issue. Does it look like the same type of glass as in your side windows?
There should be a mark on it I would expect that might state what type of glass it is?

Don't do what I did, I did some filiming with my car and attached a camera to the doors using suction mounts. Problme is I have autoglym extra gloass pretection on teh paintwork and before long the camera fell off , whilst I was traveliing at 30mph. Good bye camera!

Ouch! that must have been tough to get over. Which suction mount did you use? I am going to use the Fat Gecko dual-suction mount by Delkin Devices. The doors have that contour as well which means I may probably never consider mounting my camera on them, unless I also use some kind of harness to double-secure the camera.
