Tires size?

I'm looking at putting on some 255/35/20 tires on a 20x9 wheel (F). Are there any issues with this size or should stick with 245/35/20?

When people are running 21", they use 255/30/21 on 21x9, so 255/35/20 on 20x9 should fit too.

Thks. Will this help fill in the gap between the fender and wheel when not lowering the car?

^The first number in the tire size is usually the width of the tire. For example, people who run "stretched" tires use a narrower width tire such as a 245/35 or 225/35 on a 9.5" wheel to make the lip of the wheel visible from the side and rear. People who look for a "meaty" tire usually go wider which has much more protection around the lip.

The second number is usually the "height" of the sidewall. Think of truck tires, on my X5 I had 255/55/18's stock so the sidewall was huge (like 5 inches), when I upgraded to 22's I put on 285/35/22's, so it brought the sidewall down to approx 1.5" height.

Very little, since the tire is just slightly taller.

Yes, the middle number is the sidewall height in per cent of the width.

So if I go with 245/35/20 on 20x9 wheels, will this make it look stretched?

Are you going with a staggered setup or square with 255 all around?

I have a 245 on a 20x9 rim in front with no stretch. The rear is 285 on a 20x10.5 with a tiny amount of stretch but not much.

Some tires are more "square" with beefier sidewalls so they'll give you even less gap or stretched look with your setup.

245 is the BMW factory sizing on a 20" wheel.

These will be staggered. 20x9 front, 20x10 rear. I will go with 255/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear.

Thanks you guy for the inform.
