Aggressive Offset/Concave 20” Wheels - Tyre Options?

Hi all, I’m hoping some folks out there with knowledge on wheels in relation to tyres can help me out here.

My current wheels & tyres have the following spec (don’t think there’s many people running this setup due to the somewhat extreme offsets):

Front =
20x9
Et20
245/35/20

Rear =
20x10.5
Et38
285/30/20

I’m lowered on Eibach Pro Kits on the front and coded drop on the rear (F11). I have zero rubbing issues, even with a full load of pax and luggage.

The current tyre setup has a fair amount of stretch going on (to keep it from fouling the arches excessively).

I just find there’s not enough tyre wall depth for me visually and also rim protection is lacking due to the stretch. I like the look of chunkier side walls. I’d also imagine they’d provide a comfier ride too.

Can I go any taller/and/or wider on the tyres with this setup without running into issues, or is this the absolute best I’m going to get?

I’m currently on 20x 9.5 22 F and 20x10.5 34 with 245/285
It also depends on the tire brand, some tires run wide and more square
295 is possible with your spec but depends on the make .

Yup. Get Michelins will be thicker than others with the sidewall

I’ll bear that in mind re different brands and potentially bigger tyre walls.

IS500 mentions 295, but that’s the width, so it won’t solve the tyre depth issue.

Can anyone advise if the following setup would work without rubbing?:

Front:
255/40/20

Rear:
295/35/20

willtheyfit.com suggests a Speedo error of the following for front and rear respectively with this proposed setup:

-4.56% (Reading at 30mph will indicate (28.63mph)

-4.97% (Reading at 30mph will indicate 28.51mph)

Not ideal, but I’m thinking better to be some ≈ -2.5mph on the speedo, as opposed to ≈ +2.5mph.

Some tires have better wheel protection than other
Stick to 35 front and 30 rear also with 295 you will get wheel protection
With Michelin

Damn, not the answer I was hoping for. 🙁

I was wishing there was a tiny leeway with with my current setup in terms of dimensions.

275/35-20 on 9.5" square, et30F et33R, -0.5 degree camber arms up front.

This is a 1" taller tire than stock, 27.7" vs 26.7". Extra sidewall adds some ride comfort for sure.

Front will rub with compression + too much steering angle. The price to be paid for a good looking fitment.

295/35-20 is a very tall wide tire and is going to take some high offset to fit, like 45-50mm.

That looks like a nice setup Blue Angel and you’ve got a nice amount of side wall depth. However, your ET for both front and rear differ from mine, so I can’t follow suit.

I just don’t think there are many people out there running my setup.

It would be an expensive trial and error process trying different tyre sizes to experiment, which is why I was hoping there may be even one other forum member out there with my setup. But admittedly, it’s unorthodox and it seems rare.
