Caliper Fitment question

Hi all, i came into possession of a X7 brembo caliper - blue with M logo (thanks to a buddy getting rid of extra parts at his shop) . I also found another one for the right side that i can buy but before i do, i want to make sure i can get it to fit on my 550.

I know it needs a 395/36 rotor based on the numbers on the back so i was curious if anyone can provide some insight if there is a rotor that will fit..

For the caliper to fit, i assume i will need some spacers to center it on the rotor like the G30 retrofit.

Thanks in advance!

E60 X5M rotor should fit. You will need washers (4-6mm) to center the caliper to the rotor. If you use 6mm, get longer bolts as well. Depending on your wheel, you might need spacers as well

Gotcha, thank you.

i think i read somewhere someone was using the front subframe bolts and just cut them down when using the washers.

Curious if the caliper will mount right up or if i will need bracket.

I have the OEM 239M wheels for winters and HRE FF04 20x9 ET 25 for the fronts. Do you think i will need a spacer? maybe for the winter set?

No bracket needed.

Longer bolt is 07119908596. It just have to be M12*1.5*48. You can get them for cheap from local hardware stores. If it's longer than 48, you can cut it down to the length you need.

I am not sure on the wheel. Just dry test fit them before you actually undo the brake lines. That way, you can put everything back and still drive.

Be aware that G series calipers sit significantly more outboard than F series calipers. You'll likely need spacers. On 343M wheels, I needed at least a 7.5mm spacer to clear them.

yeah I feel like I might need spacers for the winter set. Hopefully for my summer wheels though. *fingers crossed* I might poke more than I like with a spacer that size.

In regards to pads, they should be such that fit the caliper and then cut need be to fit on rotor? Silly question, i know, but wanted to clarify - i bought the other caliper anyway lol

Also see a bunch of e70 x5m guys using f85 rotors which are the same other than 2 set screws instead of 1 (e70 guys say 1 is fine) and they are cross drilled vs normal.

Yes the f85 rotors are easily installed on the e70 m caliper setup. However, they are almost double the cost of the Brembo 2-piece non drilled rotors you can get. I just ordered a set to replace the $55 dollar ones from Rock Auto and those turned out to be exactly what I paid for

Can you send a link to the brembo one's you are talking about? I found non-drilled for $600 vs $760 for drilled.

Nevermind, found Zimmerman e70 x5m rotors for $450 all in vs. $760 all in for cross-drilled. since this isn't a track car and the holes would be just for looks - i will get the normal rotors..

I still have life left on this current setup so i have a cart ready to go - will update the thread when i tackle this swap.
