Looking at used 550i and noticed that some have the sport-comfort switch next to the shift lever and some don’t. These are cars that don’t otherwise appear to have the sport package (which I usually identify by the shadow line trim).

What’s the difference between these?

Depends on the equipment level of the car, but pressing the sport button sharpens throttle response, increased default waste gate duty cycle, stiffens the shocks, adjusts steering feel, etc

In addition to that it also keeps the rpms at a higher level as well as shortening shift time. I drove one without this option before I bought my 550 and I would not buy one without this feature! You will be very happy with how it can change the car! Good luck on your search!
