EPA MPG 20/29 for 535i - Wow!
I stopped by Gebhardt BMW yesterday to see if they had any F10s in, and they had a 535i being prepped. It was the black with beige interior "launch model" that others have reported, priced just under $56k. What surprised me was the 20/29 MPG on the sticker, which is much better than I was expecting for such a large car.
If the sticker was accurate, and I don't have any reason to believe that it's not, this makes the 535i one of the most efficient BMWs available in the USA. That's better than the 128i, the 335i, etc., with only the 335d being better. The 8 speed transmission is surely to thank for some of it, but I guess they really do mean "efficient dynamics" on the F10. I'm not sure how many other "big cars" with 300+ HP get that kind of MPG, but I'd bet that there aren't many. The 2001 Ford Mustang V6 has 305 HP and gets 19/31 MPG, but it also weighs 500 pounds less and offers far less room, comfort, etc. I was waiting for the diesel, but this might be just fine! Test drive hopefully on Wednesday... |

I do agree that the 5 series mpg figures are and can attribute it probably to the new 8spd spiced with engine technologies.

Do you not check your information before you write things as fact? The six-cylinder (3.7L V6) in the 2011 Mustang is NOT turbocharged NOR does it have direct injection, which is said to be coming along at a later time.

@ mihink
Dude, seriously, read the entire thread, I never posted the information I was questioning it myself then based on ibimmers post wondered how Mustang is going to sell GT's with that kind of V6. I have to fact check other folks posts too!>!>!>! I will be cordial and quit there.
