All-season vs summer tires
So I'm currently looking for new tires for my car with high tread life. Looking through tirerack, I see that all-season tires have a much higher tread number than the summer times.
Anyways, I live in Southern California so there is no snow and barely any rain. Comparing the Continental ExtremeContact DW(Summer) and Continental ExtremeContact DWS(All-season), the price comes out to almost the same with the tread rating being 340(Summer) vs 540(All-season). Both seem to be highly rated through the reviews and other posts that I have read. I guess it comes down to: Would the tread life of the all-season be THAT much better than the summer? What would I be compromising getting the all-seasons over the summers? |

DWS are a little soft but wear well. I had them and wouldn't buy them again. Actually I am not sure I would buy Continentals again. I just think Michelins and Bridgestones are better brands.

I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports on now. Definitely firmer and handle better. Not sure they will last as long as the DWSs.
I've read good reviews about Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions also. Might want to give those a look also. |
