For those of you who have applied OC to your paint, what do you use to wash your car with? Dawn?

For those of you who applied OC to your wondows, What do you use to clean your windows? Windex?

Just took delivery of my car today and had John van der Kuyp (Advanced Mobile Detailing) detail the car and then OptiCoat immediately after I took possession. The Imperial Blue looks amazing, and I'll look forward to seeing how the gorgeous gloss holds up over time. John did a great and thorough job and I'd recommend him to anyone in South Florida.

Very reasonable $350 including initial wash, polish, OptiCoat and subsequent polish (I literally had them pull off the wrapping only and then drove less than 5 miles in testing and to my house). He did say he would likely be raising his rate for application as it effectively cannibalizes his waxing business. He spent around five hours at my house and I was very impressed with his work ethic.

Yes, interesting point. You can imagine why OC (as great a product as it is) won't likely ever take off with the professional detailing/car wash venues. Once a car receives an OC application they are good to go for, reasonably, 5 years.

It depends. Although OC is permanent and more durable than the factory clear coat it is still susceptible to swirls and contamination. Over time swirl marks will still show up and people will need to redo the paint the correction and have OC applied again since it will be removed during the correction process.

My car has been coated for almost a month now and this stuff is well worth the $59 i paid for it 1000x. The car stays cleaner much longer plus even when it is dirty it still has a lot of shine to it. My wheels also stays cleaner like i've never experienced before. In the past my wheels would be coated with brake dust just driving around for a half hour but now they are noticeably cleaner for days.

I had my wheels done, too, and hoping this will lessen the standard BMW brake dust problem that I remember well from my E39 (but not my 2002, incidentally). Although others have reported having windows including the windshield done, I didn't see the point and John also indicated he does not do this.

I should also add that there was no way I trusted myself to apply this stuff. Even after expert application (albeit in my less than ideally lit garage) there were 5-10 small spots that needed to be polished after the OC flashed somewhat unevenly.

I have space gray which is a lot more forgiving than dark colors. I coated my car twice just to make sure I didn't miss anything and the key is to wipe it down with a MF towel within 15mins of it touching the paint.

No uneven spots that I noticed on my car
