Any One Available To Check Out A Car In Brooklyn?

Hi,

Looking at a 2014 650IX on eBay in Brooklyn NY. Could be a very interesting purchase or a disaster (rebuilt salvage title)? I know this is a lot to ask; is anyone available in the Brooklyn area to check out the car for me (does the repair look OK, does it drive OK?)? Or can you recommend an independent BMW mechanic in this are who I could pay to do an inspection? I live in NW Indiana, so not very practical for me to check out the car myself. Here is a link to the car:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-BMW-6-S...452915?vxp=mtr

Any helpful comments from the board (550i or 650i owners) would be much appreciated.

BTW; I have no plans to get rid of my 2012 550iX, love this car. Maintenance cost aside that is! Just always fancied a 650i.

Regards,

Marcus

Sort of hard to believe the insurance co. would total the car due to "light front damage" that supposedly only seems to have effected the front bumper, hood, lights, fender liners and the radiator/rad. support. That would otherwise be a very repairable accident well within the overall value of the car. That is, unless the seller is being less than honest about actual damage.

Airbag Deployed

Found out the drivers side airbag did deploy. So, probably not as light a collision as implied.

Airbag deployment usually equals a total. Airbags usually don't deploy until about 35mph.

I would check the body shop reviews also. Are they authorized? Was the deployed airbag replaced with an actual airbag (there have been instances where shady body shops install a dummy or no airbag)?

They say they were the body shop that did the repairs. Ask them for pics of the damage before the repair.

lol, I go nuts searching vehicles history. NJ/NY they have ton con artist and local body shop will do just about anything to take your money. This one was easy OP eBay link confirm the miles and the VIN. The shop bought the car from the auction and fixed it. 40K for that no way Cars like that end up local road side shops who sales BMWs, Mercs, etc claiming to be high-end import dealers. Usually, people buy from them are gullible and scammed thinking they got a nice car for cheap.

40k is CPO territory! I've been looking at CPO GC xDrives for the winter myself. Crazy how expensive those dealers sell these cars for. Suckers buy them though, so they keep selling them at high prices.

they consider it light damage if the internal body frame is not deformed in any way. as bad as the pictures look, the engine block seems unscathed and the car looks perfectly restored.

I am guessing with this kind of damage, you will have lots of room to push the price downwards.

btw as per the vin check, there are two service bulletins open for this car that are not done.

Any chance you could share how you know that there are two service bulletins for this car? Where can we go look for our own?

I agree that the damage can look worse than it actually is but I see the driver's airbag and driver's side curtain airbag along with the passenger airbag deployed. That would be a new dashboard and possibly headlining? Many parts so the price would soon add up for such a repair. Not sure I'd look any further either and the OP has the good sense to keep on walking past.

I am looking into the BMW service system, these things are flagged in red there. all you need to do is enter the vin, but access is not free/open
