Too much fuel consumption - 2012 535i
Hello everyone, my car delivered few days ago with 52K Miles mileage, so I have very low MPG, 9-10 MPG in city with ECO Pro mode and with smooth throttle (light leg, without hard traffic) with half full tank i drove just 45 mile... I have checked car with diagnostic softwares and doesn't have any errors... no any check engine light on dashboard... car is running on 95 octane fuel..
So i have few ideas why my car have low MPG: 1) Car is hot weather package, my country have all seasons correct, on winter is 50F Degrees - 14F and on summer 80F - 102F... must I change thermostat for that climate? Yesterday was 40F Degrees ... 2) I haven't checked air filter, but I think air filter cant increase fuel consumption like this :/ I want your help guys, if someone knows solution please give me your recommendation ^_^ Thanks |

I have a 2012 535i, I usually drive in Sport mode, I like to accelerate of the light fast, 95% of my driving is in town --- and I consistently do 20.2 mpg. Thermostat and air filter are not the cause of your 9-10 mpg. If I read correctly you just got the car so you do not know the mpg history. Is this based upon a sole 1/2 tank (if so could just be your gauge) or have you been driving it for 2 or 3 full tanks of gas?

Fill up your tank, take note of the mileage and drive. If you think you have again done just 9-10 mpg on a half tank, take note of how many miles you have driven, and fill up your tank again. Compare the mileage driven to how many gallons of gas it took to refill.

Reset your computer and reset the average speed. Drive a while and tell us the mpg and average speed. Should give a better idea. My old f10 535i got about 13 mpg in city. I was doing like 15 miles per hour average.
Have u tried to use a different brand of gas? |

Sounds like a panic post. Come back when you've drained and re-filled the tank, and reset the trip computer. Mine will consistently go ~300mi on a full tank in the city. Comes to about 19MPG on average and I've been known to rip on it occasionally.
