Rim size CO2 penalty tax ???

So I was leafing through the 2012 F10 brochure today. The dutch issue, remember this a country where the stock 535i costs EUR 71.950 (about 97,178 $, including EUR 22.177 - or 29,953 $ - taxes ).

I do not usually complain about the local ridiculous high taxes (it's even worse in Scandinavia or SE Asea, I know) until something new caught my attention. It is called the "wheel size CO2 penalty tax table".

When you order for example an F10 535i and add 18" rims you'll have to pay 183 EUR EXTRA tax (compared to the stock 17").
If you add 19" or 20" rims, you'll have to pay EUR 789 EXTRA tax.

WTF?

Yep, same extra tax here in Norway too because of higher CO2 emissions with larger wheels.

Company car tax is affected in a similar way here...

The standard 17" wheeled MY2012 F10 520d SE is advertised as having CO2 emissions of 123 g/km.

Adding 18" wheels increases that to 127 g/km, which raises it another tax band. (This year both bands are charged at the same rate, but next tax year onwards it will cost company car drivers more to have 18" or bigger wheels).

I didn't know this at the time of ordering; it wouldn't have made any difference - just would have liked to have known!
