Hey guys. I had a question about retrofitting a backup camera to my LCI 528i. I stopped by to speak to the dealership but they have no idea if this will work or not and wanted to charge an arm and a leg for the parts only.

If I was to buy the backup camera, Wiring Harness, and the ECU, is there anything else I would need to get this project operational. I know I'm probably going to need some coding after the install so I'm going to have to learn that as well. But other than that anything else I should be looking at...?

If you just want ideas look at bimmertech. No matter how you do it, it won't be cheap.

A friend of mine can get me a used set from the auto salvage yard, but I'm not sure if I would need anything else. From the looks of it on the details page of bimmertech, in there OEM system it includes the Camera, Camera Module, and Wiring Harness. and then a coding interface. So I think I'm on the right track but wanted to get some additional feedback.

I highly recommend you contact Patryk at Bimmertech. He sells a complete OEM kit and also other retrofit options.

oem solution requires PDC (Bumper sensors). Parts needed are as follows

New trunk handle and camera

camera module and bracket

wire harness for camera module (includes power wires, canbus wires and video signal to headunit)

HSD cable for camera to module.

once this is installed, you need to do VO coding to activate the option.

I need some one to elaborate which is which in the 7 wires plug in TRSVC
I already knew KCAN H and L - GROUND - Shield
which is FBAS + and -

and which one goes to the fuse box, and which slot to put the wire in.
