The 'adaptive' bit means that they turn with the steering wheel and, to me, is one of the car's greatest features. Find an unlit and twisty country road and prepare to be amazed. Up here in rural Scotland we're spoilt for choice and I often go for a night blast, not just to enjoy the 35d/sport auto power-train, but also the fantastic lights; it's quite uncanny to see around the corners before you get there. |

Am pleased to report that the free sat nav apps can be heard with iphone music via the usb phone adaptor. Can't see the screen of course but a good enough effort.
These may promise more options in future http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...ity/index.html

1000 miles in - some observations to come. Still very pleased with spec and purchase.
Did you know you that pressing stop at the end of your journey puts you into park automatically? I'm not impressed with the dipping mirror on reverse function as it restricts the view around you I can see my satnav app screen if I place iphone in cup holder tray auto beam / dip headlights have realistic operating mode What are the mini-grilles for in the headlining just above your sun visor? Speed limiter function good but can it be resumed at previous speed? Base black trim is prone to finger-prints Bottle bucket in the boot is very useful Note that I have Dunlop RFTs and my friend has Michelin RFTs on our W Type 332 wheels Note that he has a netted area in the boot on the passenger side - he has specced folding rear seat - may be related Very good comments from others about the car

Actually, the grilles for the interior sensor are in the housing in the centre where the courtesy lights are; the grilles right above the visors are the microphones for the telephone / voice control.

Isnt it annoying that you cant change headlight beam up and down if you havent paid for adaptive light option?
Or have i failed to find them somewhere on the dashboard? |

The beam-throw (level) on xenon lights is automatic, whether you have adaptive lights or not. Only on halogen do you get the manual thumbwheel near the light switch.

was referring to the info display settings - and I now know it toggles on/off the economy meter and battery recharge displays at least.

I suspect that you're not using the cruise control to its full potential - pressing the bottom button initiates the system and aligns the orange cursor with the current speed. Cruise can then be engaged by either pressing the middle button, which will then match the previously selected speed or you can flick the speed adjust paddle at any point and cruise will then be established at that particular speed. Either of these options will turn the cursor green until cruise is disengaged, when it will revert to orange and serve as a reminder of what speed you had selected. It's an excellent cruise control system and the more you use it, the more intuitive its use will become. |

ok - will give it a try - and thanks for that. I am used to the Merc which allows resume and does brake for you (didn't even bother trying to explain to the speed cops who claimed I must have known I was going too fast because I braked...). Also never been a fan of cruise from a safety (ie concentration) perspective - and reinforcing that my friend crashed heavily... But never say never - I will enjoy understanding the functionality and will give it a go. Thanks!

Does everybody activate the park brake? I just leave in P - always have... although I notice that using auto-hold automatically leaves the park brake on when you turn the engine off. Quite like the autohold when the occasion suits.

I notice that when entering SPORT mode the display has stopped showing the screen with chassis / drivetrain picture - this is good - I don't want my passengers to think I'm planning a speedy drive down the lanes - even if I am....
May or may not be related to me turning off 'additional indicators'???

The dash display has a large and noticeable sub-section for warning and economy and battery that has caught my attention at night and I can't stop looking at it...

seems that it is not 'additional indicators' that has turned off the sports config screen. I assume therefore it comes on x times or for y miles from new? Mine has stopped and i have done 1800 miles now.
