R19 Tyres
Hi, starting to think about a pair of new tyres for my F10 530D. Current ones maybe have a thousand or so left on them.
They are 245/40/19. Looking at Kiwk-fit the prices range from £177 all the way to £212. All good brands such as Dunlop, Pirelli and Michelin. What're your guys thoughts as to which ones to get? Maybe not the cheapest ones I'd tend to think. It currently has Good Year Excellence on it - I think the ones that the car had when built - and they are the £212 model. I reckon probably best to fit those again but interested in your thoughts please?

I have the Dunlops and am happy with them tbh, they are quite and dry/wet grip is good. Considered going non-rft but decided I like the security of rft's in the end

On an additional note...
See if you can find the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3... one of the best all round year tyres. - comparison tests are better than any competitive summer tyre - winter tyre performance is brilliant for UK winters (not specifically for snow, but general winter tyre) - the reviews of this tyre rate it as almost extra ordinary. However, I have tried everywhere and cannot find these anywhere in the UK, but the this the tyre I would buy if I could locate them.

Finally found a company in Canada who are willing to ship these to Heathrow. I have the staggered 18" setup, and it's costing about £700 to get these to UK. Add to this some costs for clearing, customs, etc.... will know in the next 2-3 days my final cost to get these delivered to my doorstep. I think I will go for it (as long as the HM customs does not go crazy!), as I have been waiting for these for so looooong.

Have tried to source these from Germany, Spain, Portugal, Austria, France, Netherlands... and finally found a retailer in Canada to ship these. I am now finding clearing agents in UK to sort out the administration (custom, handling, etc...). I think custom duty will be 4%, so not a lot... Will update as soon as I get the final cost (before taking the plunge) !

Think it's 4.5% MFN Duty Rate as well. Duty= £31.50 VAT= £146.30 Total import duty & taxes due= £177.80 Total landed cost: £877.80 + any agent handling fee's and postage within the UK. Last edited by K6MHX; 08-21-2015 at 08:28 AM.. Reason: Added the Maths |

Like others, I'd have these tyres like a shot, they seem absolutely perfect for our climate so it seems illogical for Michelin to say they're not for the UK, but is this going to cause problems with your insurance company? It may be worth checking with them before you start committing yourself / spending money.

It seems the tyres are not marked as ECE, so may turn out to be a problem.
