F10 LCI side markers
Folks, the chrome insert replacing the side indicators on the LCI annoys me, especially as I have just added black grilles to the front...has anybody come across Matt or gloss back replacements? I spotted some from the U.S. On EBay but At $125 seem mad money for a non functional part....any ideas???

I'd suggest some black vinyl wrap. They would be easy to wrap using a hairdryer.
key is to wrap onto the back surface and then trim. The trimmed bits would be hidden.

Not sure as I had mine done from a wrap shop, I had the door handle chrome inlay wrapped gloss black too and the rear diffuser/parts of the front bumper done in carbon wrap at the same time.
I'd assume like previous BMW's I've had the whole piece probably slides over to one side and then pulls out. Google it, bound to be a video online somewhere...

Just get them painted, it'll be a better match with the colour of the car than wrapping them.

Not sure if there's any difference between Pre/Post LCI, but I've just fitted some of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361237315042 Ordered them on the 4th and they came yesterday in a box that was wayyyyyyy to big so didn't have clue what it was at first! The fit seems to be ok, only took a few minutes per side to fit, 3 clips holding the indicator In then another 3 clips that secure the trim. They are Matte Black, which it doesn't state, but this was what I wanted anyway. I can take some pic's if needed. |

MMY what is the color of your car? I wrapped mine in vinyl, gloss black from 3M, and it is a near perfect match to Jet Black. I did first go to a reputable paint shop and they would not guarantee that even with a lot of surface prep that there would not be flaking or chipping 3 years from now. They suggested vinyl wrapping which I did on my own.

You need to remove them very carefully and look for the black and not chrome clips, one on the front, one on top and one on the bottom. I cracked my first one and had to order a replacement.
The vinyl wrapping is a PITA. You need patience, a soft squeegee, a taped up finger and heat gun/hair dryer. It also works better to do it on a work bench where you can use a vice to hold the side marker so yo an use both hands to work with the wrap.
