I want to replace my chrome blinkers with a carbon fiber set. Anyone know how to remove them without damanging the LEDs ?
Thanks |

There's a DIY on here. But I think one of the guys used a butter knife. I wouldn't suggest that. I used a plastic emblem remover. Worked fine.

A surplus supermarket club card worked well. Thin plastic and no loss if it's damaged.

Affirmative. Start from the bottom front edge of the blinker and wiggle the card towards the rear while maintaining slight pulling force to maintain the seperation already gained.

Hold the replacement insert in your hand first. Look at it to understand where and how the tabs, that hold it secure to the body panel, are located and work. As you gently pry the side marker away from the body panel with the credit card you will know where to look for the tabs. Once located, press each tab in towards the middle of the marker while you gently pull it away from the body panel. Piece of cake!
I used a plastic putty knife. It worked great, as it had a handle for me to better manipulate the side marker while pressing the tabs in. Last edited by Andy H.; 10-05-2012 at 09:32 AM.. |
