Best wheels for BMW 530xd
Hi,
I am looking for new alloy wheels for a BMW 530d Xdrive Touring. I have a few questions: 1. I have heard that wheels need to be the same width (front vs rear) when it is Xdrive. Is that correct? 2. Buying used alloys - how will I know if they are same width front and rear? Would it be enough to know if the wheels are fit with the same size of tires? 3. Should I go for 18 inch or 19 inch to get the best out of the car? Thanks |

1. No, wheels have to have an overall diameter within 1% of each other. So it heavily depends on your tire and rim setup. The only thing width affects is the width, and therefore height, of the tire you can run.
2. It'll almost always be specified. Worst comes to worst, just ask the seller to measure the width with a tape measure. 3. Entirely up to you. In the end, it's a 530d, so you won't be tearing it up at the track any time soon so just get what looks good.

Thanks for the reply and sorry for me not answering until now. I have decided to postpone the change to summer wheels/tires until next year. Information in this thread will still be relevant at that time

On my '16 535d Xdrive, I went from 19" wheels to 17" ones. Wanted the softer ride of higher profile tires and less fear of bent rims (from potholes). Most likely, you're starting with 17" wheels and tires and want something with more bling. Just remember that the 18 and 19 wheels will ride harder than what you might have now.
