As an old timer I remember that the wheel design has been the Alpina trade mark going back to the 80s. They have made a small update by "Dishing" the spokes somewhat. But this is an Alpina Hall mark and one of the few threads in their design DNA that has survived.

Alpina have poor RV here in the UK, not sure why but they do tend to loose more money than "main stream cars".

I think I am looking at my ultimate 5
sigh

"Hold on dogs, there's a Ferrari FF on our tail.."

I agree about the wheel thing, its just a hallmark of Alpina

I'll take white or blue, I'm not fussy (but it needs shadowline trim around the windows, the chrome clashes)

535d is only marginal faster than 530d.
It is the same thing with what you are talking about.

Even if you add more HP, it is somehow useless if you are not reduce the mass of the car.
In your dreams here are the figures for the two diesels

530d SE £38,775 Diesel 25% (24%) 166 (160) 44.8 (46.3) 245 6.3 (6.3)
535d SE £43,915 Diesel (24%) (162) (46.3) 299 (5.7)

Thats 1/2 a second in my book and only the start of the 35D power.

Damn straight.

As a former V70R owner I almost pulled the trigger on about 3 different 2010 E61's. But the N54 scared me and I wanted the new toys.

If BMW decides to sell an F11 in the US, my car will be the first one in for trade.

Damn, I would give my left nut for that car. And yes, I realize it would be expensive. But I would take it over an E63AMG wagon or CTSV Wagon (can't even call it a wagon) any day.

Yea, I really had a hard time thinking the 530d was a competitor to the 535d but I wasnt going to hunt the numbers.

No way!! These alloys are classy - I think they're awesome and suit the character of the understated Alpina supergun!

+1... totally agree.

This radial-spoke design is timeless!

I certainly hope those rumours are true, but don't count on it.
The business case for the M5 F11 is a fail. It doesn't sell in the States nor in SE Asea. Just look at the production numbers of the E61 M5.

F10 M5 will need about 4,4 sec for the 0 - 62 mph sprint
I'm curious how the future 545d (~350 hp & +700 Nm) will perform

Just where is this 545D any links please, we have not heard of it over here. 350BHP and 700+ NM will be very fast indeed.

There is an one year old info about the 3.0 tri-turbo diesel engine which will debut on 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, first on X5 and X6, named 45d.
Here are two links related:

Thats great news, it should go very well. I would be interested to see it in the 6 series 4 door.

1. Manufacturers estimate...likely conservative
2. Traction, traction, traction.
