1 week- Mini review /observations
After only 450 miles this car is different from my prior BMW's , but yet is still very much a BMW. Its personality is now more diverse, and lets the driver dial in the driving experience desired.
It wants to be driven, but now with the multiple driving modes, you get to choose how you want the car to drive/feel. In this 550i, I like that the the car reverts to normal mode at start up, gets me engaged to decide if I'm in the mood for Sport or Sport + mode. So far I have driven SD freeways @ normal, but as soon as I hit an offramp or 2 lane road, I toggle to Sport. You can feel the cars suspension and drivetrain tighten, car seems to crouch, feels menacing Break in period will be over soon, the beast will be unleashed ! The car drives fantastic, huge power on demand. Absolutely NO issues from early MY 11 vehicles. Very sophisticated, polished, yet sporty- What is expected from this period in time and price point. New iDrive and technology interface has given me biggest learning curve. I now have iPhone 4 streaming Pandora thru blutooth, then accessing radio stations world wide 9 (KLOS!!!) via BMW APPS, pinging me a Google map directions, then switching to iPod w/ 3000+ songs playing songs with cover art, SiriusXM, it just keeps going..... A few minor beefs. What happened to trunk storage bins? Owners manual indicates a netted area, and bin on side of trunk in each fender well (like E60's had) Where the heck are they? I didnt recall an separate option when I ordered? Miss the elevated strorage shelf (used this for coins) in driver door pocket E60 550i had, now just one big storage area. Few new PICS too...

Nice review, and beautiful car. I have to agree with whoever it was on this board who noted that pictures do no justice to the M Sport wheels. In person, they are quite nice looking. The curves are not caught well in pics...

It's beautiful in alpine white! I love changing from normal to sport on a curve and feeling everything tighten up. Totally agree on the M-sport tires, they are much cooler in person.
