How long do you plan to keep your F10?

I plan to keep it for at least 7 years, what about you guys?

The next generation 5 series should be out by then!

6 years. I've never been as happy with a car before.

For those of you planning on keeping the car more than 3 years, are you following BMW's standard 15,000 mi schedule between oil changes?

I just passed the 1400 mi mark and did an oil and filter change post-break-in just in case. The service advisior even said that if I planned on keeping the car, it may not be a bad idea.

3 years, until the lease is up. Then it's on to something new! The new 3-series will be out by then. Or maybe I'll try a 535d if they brought one over. Don't have to worry about it for 3 more years.

3 years when my lease is up. Then it will most likely be the new BMW 6er 4 door sport coupe. However I may stick with the F10 and get a diesel. Or if the economy stays in the toilet, I may drop down to the F30.

We are already discussing where to go with BMW Euro Delivery Number Six. It looks like it will be Paris to Great Britain and Scotland to keep wifey happy. I would like to do Spain and the Costa Del Sol or go back to Norway. Wifey will probably win this time.

Depends how well it holds up. I saw a clean E39 540i yesterday. An older 10 year old car that has been well maintained is a thing of beauty. The E39 has aged so well. If this car hold up well there's no reason 10 year+ isn't possible. I have a 15 year old Lexus LS 400. I keep telling myself, I'll get rid of it when it dies. But it's not any where near being trashed. As long as you do some preventative maintenance and keep the paint in good order a car can go a long long way...

How many miles do you have on your Lexus? Still looks good.

95, I'm the original owner. 130k miles, which is an avg of 8k a year. I've done all the work myself except for the timing belt which is too big a job to do in your garage. But it's good to have a reliable car that you can beat on.. If I'm going to a Dodger game, hell if I'm parking a F10 in there, you catch my drift? Going up to the mountains to ski, F10 stays at home, no chance it's seeing chains, salt and snow.

Good question. I still have my E39, which I've had for 10 years and 120k miles. It's been a fantastic car -- rock solid with no major issues other than normal maintenance. I never really liked the E60 enough to make a change. I'll make my decision on the F10 after 3-4 years, before the warranty expires. It'll depend on the reliability and service issues to that point and the new car landscape.

My friend (I posted his pictures of one of the first 550i coming out) is planning to keep it for 36 months and hopefully get the new M5 after it.

I bought this car so it's going to be a keeper for about 6-7 years. I've leased my last three cars but really wanted something to keep and this isn't a bad one

I will keep for around 5 years. However, I am incredibly fickle when it comes to keeping a car beyond 3 years.

E46 330ci Purchased Nov 2004, part exchanged for new E92 335dM in Jan 2008, to be part exchanged for F10 530dM in 6 weeks!!

Some key developments to watch for will be the new 6 series, new 3 series coupe, and also the F10 LCI expected for late 2014 (I am guessing)

you're have to rethink that plan, because as long as there is an M5 in North America, BMW will never bring over the Alpina. There is no M version of the 7-series, which is why the B7 is the only Alpina that will ever be on our shores (with the exception of the 555 examples of the Alpina Roadster based on the 2003 Z8.)

I keep it until the next generation is here. My F11 with M-package will be produced in week 37, can wait!

I change my oil in my 330xi (which I will keep untill the next generation arrives ) midway between scheduled services. It looks pretty dirty even with then. I will do that in the F11 also.

I was told once that most UK owners of new BMW cars keep their cars for 3 years and then trade-in for the next model/LCI. There is of course a sizeable bunch who buy nearly new cars (1-2 years old) which are usually traded in before the 5-years are up. After this most UK dealers prefer not to deal with trade-ins.

If my past 20 year history of car ownership means anything I will be lucky to keep it for 3 years. I would like to keep it until the first year of the next generation and do it again, preorder all the way.
