Still leaking oil after valve cover gasket replacement? Lots of white smoke

Hi my car has been visibly leaking oil even after a valve cover gasket replacement the smoke is substantial especially after it heats up, any advice on how to handle this situation? I've been trying to resolve this issue for months now. Lots of time and money spent and no resolution. It's not covered by warranty either whatever the problem is.

Are you sure your valve cover is not cracked?..where did you buy the gasket sounds like .. you coould have pinched the gasket when putting the cover back on also.

1). Valve cover has tendency to crack on high mileage cars due heat cycles.

2). As said above, may not be installed correctly.

3). take that beauty cover off and show where exactly is leaking point(s)

As mentioned above, Valve cover needs to be inspected as well as installation of the valve cover and gasket.

Would you recommend I go back to BMW Service to do this or go to a local shop?

Definately not just any indy shop, a specialist shop that specialize in BMWs is preferred.

Make sure you read the reviews of the shop, make sure they are good at what they do from others first before pulling in. Research your choices because last thing you want is more $$ down the drain for a shabby job.

What a coincidence.. I just had my valve cover replaced including all of the gaskets for my 2016 528i xDrive currently at 159,000 miles. Attaching the receipt here as well.

2 days later I noticed a huge oil leak from the passenger side. Attached photos as well. Took it back to the trusted shop and they diagnosed it and noticed the oil leak was coming from the Camshaft Variable Valve Timing Solenoid Gasket. Attached a photo of where this sensor is.

What they think happened is either the gasket seal had gone bad and/or the technician put too much force when putting the sensor back on to the Valve Cover.

Hope this helps but I would check your just to he safe.

Oh geez these cars love to leak huh? I have the same car so I guess we're in the same boat, thanks for the info! The weathers getting hot and I worry because warranty told me it's a fire hazard but still won't cover it. Lol

If you are still leaking at this point you need to change that valve cover from what it sounds like, where are you located?..I know it stinks, but lesson learned and NEVER NEVER NEVER go to the dealership!!.. maybe go there for the free snacks... then leave!
