Front Axle Boot Replacement and New Popping / Rippling Sound

Dealer recently replaced my front passenger side axle boot.

Unfortunately, I’ve been experiencing an intermittent faint / soft popping / rippling noise when turning slowly, usually on an incline / decline; most easily reproduced on the lip of a driveway / parking lot.

Anyone know what this could be? Could something have been installed incorrectly?

Also, would replacing said part affect alignment? The car was out of alignment after the repair, but I’ve had another dealer align same since…

Thanks. :|

Is the sound like a metal to metal noise or more like a bearing noise? Could be a ball joint issue of the boot rios too. Or maybe they didnt tighten the axle on the hub...

Thanks for your reply.

Hmm; not metal on metal and more of a bearing noise, but to me a bearing noise is a spinning noise, which this is not.

Maybe a ball joint noise, but best described as a soft popping / rippling noise when making a slow turn. Would ball joints be affected in any way by a axle joint repair?

Hope they don't give me grief with getting this right; should've brought it back sooner. :|

My car was making a clicking/ticking noise when turning either way and its usually better heard while turning slowly on an incline / decline. Had to take it in twice before they decided that its the wheel bearing. The part is on "national back-order" and will take several weeks to get here.

The noise is heard louder on the outside, and its really embarrassing when you're making a turn and your $75K car that only has 6,500 miles on it is making these noises. Really disappointed with BMW, this seems to be an issue with several F10's including the M5's.
