Rear Lamp Tinting
Has anyone tinted their rear lamps? I’m contemplating it, but definitely don’t want an aftermarket look (lightest possible layer of tint; just enough to know it's tinted, but to look like it could have come from the factory), and would like to know what the best practices / products are for the job. Thanks!

Whether its tinting or vinyl wrapping, you are applying a film over your light. I suggested this as another option since (i believe, and please correct if i'm wrong) vinyl is a cheaper, simpler and faster method

When I say tint, I mean smoke / paint with clear coat. As if the windows were "dipped"... |

vinyl is def. much much cheap to do but it also looks it. I can spot a vinyl smoked car easily compared to a proper painted clear coat smoke setup.

I'm scheduled to have mine tinted this week for $400, but with how particular I am, I'm having second thoughts.
Will the finish scratch like that of a regular painted panel (will lattice swirl marks begin to show)? How about cracking, etc.? I'm concerned for longevity. Last, anyone purchase the facelifted lamps for their pre-facelift car? How much did the parts cost? Is there any way to source the parts on the cheap? Can we do a "group buy"? Not sure how that would work / be coordinated, but I'd be down. I'd need the F01/02 lamps, while others here might need the F10 ones... Thanks! |
