Thanks for the input:

UPDATED 8/30

To follow up with you guys I just got back from BMW of Freehold, NJ. Where I got an awesome deal on my current 2013 x3 35i 60k MSRP (every option), 10k a year, 3500 out of pocket, $555 a month. I was a hurricane sandy victim hence the ridiculous cheap price. Anyway. I test drove the 328i GT no M sport no DHP and it drove very nice and smooth and a little body roll as expected. I even packed up the trunk in the x3 so I can see what a packed trunk looks like in the GT. To my expectations everything fit. Except the umbrella stroller I have to not fit horizontally only on an angle. X3 seems to be at least 3-4 inches wider in the cargo area. Now on to the pricing:

Good news is that the 2016 GT models have more standard options and the packages are less. For ex 28i trim, M sport is only $2600 as opposed to $3400, premium is only $950, from $2200. So optioned exactly the way I want. It came out $2700 cheaper for the 2016. The 2015 I priced was $58,900. Do the math. So with that being said. The best price they gave me with $3900 out of pocket was $615. What a fkin joke man!! $615 they can GFTS, lol. I told them that was a decent deal and walked out with a smile. Lmao. I told him I'll see him next week anyway for the event that gives you a $1000 voucher for your next vehicle. Here is the kicker to the story. I already priced out with my lease broker "friend" a 335 GT at $63,000. You'll never believe the price. $609 with $3500 out of pocket. LOLLLL. for the 328 GT, same build and MSRP as Freehold.... You ready!! You ready for the price......................

$518 with only $3400 down.

END OF STORY. I'll update you guys on what I'm gonna do. Enjoy you weekend and I hope you love this story.

Coming out of my X3 35i M soon freaks me out because it's the best car/sav I've had throughout my driving life (I'm 31). I'm big into leasing so I'm def not buying it out. But also another problem is with my personality; I always like change and something new and refreshing. The LCI X3 DOES NOT cut it for me. The changes are too subtle to justify a lease over $600 a month (I always try to get every option) And the new X3 which i REALLY want does not come out till August/October 2016, this brings me to my title in this post.

Now my new budget since I'm saving more is $500 a month as opposed to $600. I will only put down at MOST out of pocket expenses including tax, $4,000., Putting my grand total at $22,000. $3000 less then what I spent on my X3. Plus I will use the savings for an Enzo Flash tune costing $800.

I have just a few months left on my lease ( 01/23/16) and I need to start buckling down and looking for the next purchase. I'm going to the dealer on the 29th just to "talk" numbers

I narrowed it down progressively to what I really want.

2015 335i Xdrive GT priced around 57K ( or 328 if price is too high $55k)

2015 528i Xdrive $60k

2015 X5 35i ( no big options though) $60k

2015 X4 28i $59k

I need that space as I have young kids, 3 and 1. That stroller is the killer on some trips, lol. But the X3 swallows everything whole.

I'm just looking for some of your opinions on here as to what you would get. I really appreciate the help guys and gals. Have a Great Day.

If I was you go for the straight six options 2015 X5 35i or 2015 335i Xdrive GT.

Being that your in a 3.5 now I would scratch the 528 and X4 2.8. Plus youre not really gaining anything from getting an X4.

That leaves the 335i GT and X5...

Both of these choice have a strong positives and negatives in their favor.

The X5 has the same engine you have now and is bigger so it may seem slower BUT doesnt require packages or modification unless you're an audiophile(sound upgrade) or an aesthetics freak(msport). It just needs the premium package.

The 335i GT(honestly i hate the GT look on the 335, but its your choice)... This will require a few packages and upgrades but will give you a faster/lighter car. The modifcations of it are quite addicting as well. Doesnt give you any more space, actually less.

This was my long-winded way of saying i would get the X5.

I have an e70 x5 as well as my f10. being that you are coming from an x3 and have two kids, I think the X5 will be the option you want to go with. Before my F10, i had the F31 328d and found the back seat and trunk space very disappointing.

the F10 528 would be a nice option but make sure you get the msport package to make the appearance better. Being that you are in brooklyn, Im sure the 528 engine will be suffice. you'll also get an increase in gas savings.

personally, im not a big fan of the GTs and the X4 or X6 styling. you lose some headroom in the back seat. I would love to upgrade my e70 X5 to the new X5d if my money can afford it. that would be my next step.

Yea the GT versions of the 3 and 5 is pretty ugly. But the 4 and 6 GT versions are awesome. If I was to buyer a cheaper GT, I would go with the 4 GT. It's like a better looking 3 series.

Agreed, the 4 series GT is awesome. I entertained the 435 GC for a while

lol, Thanks for the great response. I had a 71K MSRP 2012 X5 35d and I loved it so i know how highly capable it is. sad thing I lost it in storm sandy. I do not think the GT is ugly in M sport though and it has plenty of space that I need

If you're set on the X5, act quickly using BMW's lease pull-ahead and get a good deal on a 2015. I doubt the 2016 will fit your stated budget. That was the approach I took for my '15 528i, which worked out to lease for the same cost as my '13 328i, for a car with an MSRP $13k higher.

I went through this recently, looking at replacements from BMW and others for my 328i. I had an X4 loaner and was disappointed at how poor the interior design was for a $55k car. From the inside, I could see no reason why one chooses this over an X3. I I would prefer an X3 with more options for the same money.

I felt the same about the 428iGC and LCI 340i. The interior was acceptable for my $49k 328i three years ago (plus it was my first BMW and I was able to overlook the interior for the performance). But with F30 variants I considered pushing $60k and the slicker competition now on the market, the materials and design suddenly felt sub-par.

That led me to the 528i M Sport, and I could not be happier. I considered the 535i for obvious reasons, but chose fuel economy over outright performance. The 528i feels like a $60k car when it comes to ride, comfort, technology, and design. The $60k F30 variants feel like $35k cars with lots of options. There is a performance sacrifice to be sure, but for my driving large in Florida urban traffic and a few highway trips, the serenity of the F10 beats the responsiveness of the F30. (Plus, my other half has an S5 for fun.)

Thanks, this is great info. But I just can't do a watered down X5, with the options I want it would be 65-71k MSRP, if I can snag one of those for $525-$550 a month then yes it's a no brainer. But if the MSRP is only 62k for the X5, it will not fit my wants and needs. I think i narrowed it down to the 528 xdrive M sport or the 335i GT

Agreed on the watered down X5. It is too bad the X3 is so long in tooth by now. Were I in the SUV market, I would likely look outside of BMW, maybe at the new GLC or the Disco Sport. The $550/month lease for a $62k car seems reasonable. Mine was $62k and the lease is $580/month (w/ 7% sales tax) after $2,500 down plus 7x MSDs. (That took negotiating with three dealers, though.)
